Fun game, easy to learn
Fun game, rules are much simpler than the Europe/Pacific series so you're up and playing in no time. The "orders" cards really help in this aspect and the optional fortune and tactics cards will give some variety for replay. There were exactly the number pieces needed for the game, no extras. If you want more pieces for any of the games in this series they are available through many sources. I use Historical Board Gaming.Initial thoughts after 1st game: Allied air power didn't play any significant roll in the game as the Axis units pretty much moved where they wanted to once coming onto the board. In fact there is so much Axis AA that United Kingdom lost its bomber and half the fighter force by turn 2, USA lost its bomber on turn 3. No air reinforcements are available but I suppose you could add some if you wanted to experiment. In the game we played the armor-less US forces had a terrible time getting off the beaches and low reinforcement rolls didn't help. Meanwhile Germany was getting very high rolls and lots of tiger tanks with artillery units were pouring in. The Allies didn't meet all the victory conditions by turn 10 as the Germans went all out to protect St Lo.There is enough chance involved to make the game interesting and if you like to mess with rules a bit this game is short enough to experiment. If you understand dice probabilities you might try mixing in some different sided dice for some of the activities you have to roll for.

Intruction to Axis and allies world
I am new to A&A so I decided to try d day due to it been a simpler version of these games and so I could enjoy a faster experience with no overwhelming rules. It so happens that D day is one of the best games I have played in my life it is addictive, simple, and nooo way short as it says. Took us like 25 mins to setup plus 45 mins first turn. At the second turn we felt much more comfortable with the mechanics and the battles started to turn more and more engaging and longer. The game takes about 6 to 8 hours a round if the players are really enjoying and laughing or screaming at the dice rolls. Now I want all A&A games. And this one you should buy it to introduce people to this type of games.

A more serious version of Memoir ‘44
So how “Axis and Alliesy” is this? Only in the battles! Overall a fun experience and much much more casual than Axis and Allies. Each turn is dictated by a play sequence of 15 orders issued (each on a play card). The game plays pretty well as each decision is pretty critical and the dice determine a lot- a few bad rolls against you opponent can cost you heavily!Pros: casual fun, easy to learn, faster paced, beautiful board and presentation, great for WWII history buffs, lots of battles, a good intro into the A&A world.Cons: a loss can come on quick toward the later rounds making continuation not so fun when you realize you’re basically finished, 200 little pieces that all have to be set up prior to game start, and worst of all is that the reinforcement boards and cards are all thin and flimsy! I immediately laminated these to make them stiffer and more rugged to last!Overall this is a fun game that is perfect for a rain day, friends and beer, or if you’re just looking to have a casual dice-based battle!

Great fun! Easy to learn!
My copy came complete and undamaged. It is a really easy to learn and fun game. It also has the capacity to add complexity through the use of extra cards which are included. I would have loved this as a teenager. I love it as an adult. I think a lot of people who would not like a standard A&A game, such as Global 1940, would like this game because it is faster and less convoluted. A great beer and pretzels game with an emphasis on beer.

This is my favorite of all the A & A games
I think that Axis and Allies, D-day, is one of the most playable war games on the market. The field of battle is so balanced that each time we play it, the outcome (victory) comes down to the last of the pre-established play round. Though it is listed for two to three players, we've adapted it to four, that has worked out well. This is my favorite of all the A & A games. Also, I highly recommend Axis and Allies 1914.

Nice addition
This is a nice addition for fans of the AA game. They won't print these forever, so I would advise you grab these now. Once they stop printing these, the prices will skyrocket!

A&A sure, but not the same
This game is a good addition for axis and allies players, but for the price and being limited to just D-Day, that’s why the 3-stars. My friends and I are avid A&A players and it of course has the A&A feel but it’s just not the same as the regular world wide game. The units are limited and no money is made or spent.I did like it for the sense that this is a 2-3 player game for when it’s hard to get 5 friends together and it only takes about 1-2 hours compared to 4-12.
