Q: Can i set up the rain fly first? (critical under rain). some tents (purple, blue) photos show that yes, but i got the grey tent and it cannot. why?

On the 15d blue version, yes you can, but most of these require the footprint to do so. In the rain I leave the inner clipped to the fly, this keeps it dry to unroll it with the fly protecting the body. Stake out the corners to keep it from flying away, then slide the pole between the two and pitch it. Tent never sees rain.

Q: Would you recommend using tyvek alomg with the footprint?

Don’t need both, only use Tyvek if you’re looking to shed about 3oz but the included one is easy and tough

Q: Which one should i choose?? 15d or the 20d one? the last one has great reviews re waterproofness and robust materials. 15d is lighter no rain reviews.

I have used it in wind and rain a few times with no issue. The main thing to be aware of is that the fabric is thinner and more fragile so requires extra care when pitching, packing and choosing sites

Q: What is the difference between mongar 2 and naturehike star river 2?

I own both, they are very similar. The Star River is a little taller, the cross bar is a little narrower and the inner has higher solid walls before the mesh starts. They are both basically the same weight. I would say the Star River would give a little more protection in cold and windy conditions and the Mongar would be better in hot temps due to more mesh. Overall, the Mongar feels slightly roomier due to the wider cross bar. Both are good tents and they are basically interchangeable.
