Q: How high is the waist and do the black/ dark colors run when washed?

They are very high waisted on me, 5'4". Almost to meeting my bra line. However, they do not roll over or fall down. I washed them with dark colors, cold water, and they seemed to retain their black color.

I'm 5"1 and 150 lbs. I'm going to order the S/M. But it doesn't make sense that the size guide says the size for S/M is 12/14? Really that large?
