Q: What stops the water from running all over the counter top?

Nothing. You would have to purchase dish drying mats and add them to both sides to soak up the water as your placing dishes in the rack.

Q: Doesn’t this get water all over the place?

Most of the water drips in the sink but some drip on the sides of the sink so we just use towels to wipe it off.

Q: Can you give a diagram with measurements for the middle bar? I can't tell if it will interfere with my faucet, which is wall mounted.

The unit has two middle bars which connect the ends. The first bar is about 7 1/4" from the counter top and the 2nd bar is about 18 1/4" from the counter top. Each bar is about 1" inch in height. These are pre-drilled so no changing those distances; however, all the attachments can be placed anywhere on the frame so if the bars work for you, then you could place the attachments in a way that would work for you too.
