Lutema uses its own standard (M) to label masks as they are not KN95 (Chinese standard), KF94 (Korean standard), or N95 (US NIOSH standard with behind-the-head bands, as per OSHA requirements) masks. "M" is Lutema's designation for civilian masks with ear loops that work just as well as an N95, hence the "95" number on the mask. (You can go to their website to read all about it.) YouTube "Mask Nerd" Aaron Collins has previously approved some of the Lutema masks, which leads me to trust the brand.(edited) This boat model filters as well as a KN95. I really wish it came in a medium size for my medium head. I wear a size M in Dr. Puri masks, which seal well. I had to give these Lutema masks to my husband as I couldn't make them work even with the use of mask tape under the nose part that will ensure a snug and stable fit on the face. Even with the tape I noticed a gap under the chin, so the mask didn't seal right for me. When my husband tried one, he also noted that the metal nose piece did not contour as well/snugly as his size L Dr. Puri mask, so larger-faced folks might also want to add mask tape for a good seal. This mask also came with "ear savers" you can use to link together the ear loops behind the head if you wish. The masks comes up a bit close under my eyes, but I bet it would fit a larger/bigger/taller adult just fine. Lastly, since they have five layers, these masks are a bit thicker than Korean-made KF94s with their four layers but not in a way that inhibits breathing.The mask does have a tad of a "production smell" when first taken out of the package--I have read that a lot of these KF94-style masks (fish shape or boat shape) have this smell based on how they are produced. I did manage to air it out over a few days, and the smell was gone.

I’ve always purchased this brand. I didn’t realize I’d ordered small size, but style and integrity are consistent.

The most comfortable, best sealing yet breathable mask I’ve encountered. The generous sizing of the mask covers a lot of the face top to bottom and also leaves a lot of room between face and mask while sealing well around the edges. I feel both secure and comfortable wearing it. You do have to knot the ear loops to customize the side to side fit (no little sliding bead adjusters), but given all the other features I consider this minor.
