Absorbs noise of noisy new refrigerator well
Our house has an annoyingly-sized refrigerator nook and so our selection of refrigerators is very limited. The one we ended up buying was quite a bit noisier than the previous model (no longer made) so I listened carefully to where the compressor noise escaped the nook - mostly through the gap between the top of the fridge and the overhead cabinet. Fortunately, there was plenty of room for airflow regardless, so I covered the underside of the cabinet with the .36" tile, and used the leftover on the wall behind the compressor, where the noise originates. (There's still adequate space for ventilation - the nook has a chimney vent in back.)Result was absolutely brilliant. My housemates knew what I was up to and one of them came in when I was done and asked, "...is it on?" And it was. If the clothes dryer (down the hall) hadn't _also_ been on, he'd've heard it, and I certainly heard it, but the high-pitched tones in particular - the really annoying ones - are just _gone_.I've ordered some more to run up along the sides of the back wall, just because I can. Sound has to bounce off that to come out the side air gaps, and those are now the main source of sound travel, so... why not stop that too? It's not the cheapest approach, but it's a _lot_ cheaper than the alternatives. (This fridge wasn't cheap, but the other ones that would fit start at $1000 more and go up from there. It's a _really_ annoying refrigerator nook.)So, yeah. Really happy. Just make sure you've got enough venting/airflow, or you'll choke your refrigerator. But if you have the airflow, or you can add it (see also: the chimney vent) then go for it.

Versatile Tiles
I bought several packages of these sound-proofing tiles to create a sound barrier between two rooms in our house. I taped these tiles to the door that goes between two rooms. The tiles were easy to tape, and cut to fit the space with a good sharp exacto knife. While the tiles dampened the sound quite a bit, it is next to impossible to completely sound-proof between rooms through a doorway due to so many other factors (i.e. walls, floors, etc). So, I can say that these tiles added good sound dampening, and are quite versatile in their applications. I have thought of doubling the thickness with another set overlaying the first set, but I may wait and see about doing that. These tiles look way better than those foam tiles that other people use, and I believe the noise dampening is better than foam. A request for future product development might be to offer these tiles is a double thickness

Not quite 12 inches. Great material.
The biggest problem is that these panels are not quite 12 inches across. They are 3/8 of an inch short of that. Since I'm using this in concert with 12 inch ABS panels for a project, I have to cut down all the ABS panels and redesign the project from scratch. I'm using these panels for an enclosure to silence some loud equipment with annoying low and high frequencies, and it appears to be working perfectly for that purpose with my foamcore prototypes. The material itself is a dream to work with - easy to cut, rigid, no dust or stray fibers at all.In a prototype of my project, I used white duct tape to attach the panels externally. This was fine for a few days, but quickly fell apart afterwards - probably because air came through the panels and "dried out" the duct tape glue. I contacted the manufacturer and they promptly recommended a different tape for production use. I'll actually be using heavy velcro because of the nature of my project, but they did respond with useful information in a prompt manner. One interesting property is this open fiber form, as opposed to closed foam cells. I'm able to put the panels in an ozone box periodically to sanitize and deodorize them.Delivery is very prompt and punctual. So in short, make them a full 12 inches and it's perfect. Otherwise, be aware that they are a bit under scale when ordering them.

Stunningly Useless
It's difficult to imagine most of these reviews are legitimate. This product was totally useless. It quite literally did nothing. No measurable decrease in sound whatsoever. If anyone thinks this product accomplished even a modicum of sound dampening, it must be placebo effect. You might have better luck gluing a bunch of paper plates together and hanging them on your wall :). This product is so bad I thought maybe I fell for a joke or that maybe it works in an alternative universe. Alas, I don't get the joke and don't live in the alternative world where these tiles do more than rob me of 15 minutes I can never get back. Your mileage may vary....

Lowers decibels a little bit.
I got these to soundproof a box to put my computer in to cut down on the noise it makes. Even though it says soundproofing material, I didn't really think it would be a miracle cure, so my expectations I think were realistic. It does cut down on the noise a little bit, but I don't have the resources to list exactly by how many decibels. Funny thing is, before I tried this, I wanted to see if the noise could actually be minimized so I put a comforter and blanket on my computer and that made a significant difference. I thought this would do at least as good a job as the comforter/blanket solution but it doesn't. I'm not regretful I bought this though because I can still add some other material later to deaden the noise a little more, but I think most people reading the ad might be somewhat disappointed in the final results of using this product.

This works!!!!
I turned one of my bedrooms into an office I hired a company to put up “sound deadening “ wallboard and put in dense insulation in the shared wall and weather stripping around the door. It did very little except cost me a lot of money. I could still hear everything. I bought this product and amazing!!! I hear only muffled voices which is fine. I did put this on the entire shared wall - not just a checkerboard pattern I am sooo happy. I have a home office thanks to this amazing stuff. I can’t believe wasted $2000 on the contractors wallboard I just need to weatherstrip around the door and use this product
