AlgoneAquarium Water Clarifier and Nitrate Remover, 18 Filter Pouches (3 Packages with 6 per Package)

I was skeptical when I purchased this product a couple of weeks ago. I have 55 gallons aquarium with 4 big ranchus gold fishes. The nitrate is always above 80 and the water color is always greenish because algae is just everywhere. I have been using several different products before and none of them works. So when I saw Algone Water Clarifier and Nitrate Remover, I thought let me give this product a try even though I was pretty skeptical. But on my first week when I use this product, the water started to become clear but the nitrate was still above 80. Entering into my second week, the water become crystal clear and the nitrate has drop to between 20 - 10. This product is magic!!!

I’ve used this product only for a month now in my 72 gallon bowl front. It’s planted heavy and heavy on tetra fishes. At first I didn’t notice anything, but after a month of having the packet in my filter, my nitrate has gone from 50pp to 5pp. I was sceptic at first so I tested the tank with test strips and api test kit with both yielding the same results! I’m a believer. Great product, I’ll be using this regularly. Id recommend trying this product out.

I have been using algon for aquarium servicing and on that note, when used first time in very dirty tanks the fungal spores on the algon pouch will start to smell within a week so make sure its enclosed. Also, the pouch will swell from normal use so make sure it's not going to clog anything. Very dirty tanks, it will make a fungal film around the pouch which could interfere with things. Overall great product, however I have no idea if the fungal spores can interact with organisms in the tank, i haven't directly noticed any issues but it certainly reduces nitrates for extended durations.

I fought for weeks trying to get my nitrates and amonia down , tried filter mediea and songe pads ,clean tank every 7 days with a 25% water change and my levels were on a roller coaster, I decided to give algone a shot used two packs in my dual filter a week latter levels started to drop but not to standards purchased axsecond dual filter since tank is screen divided and placed two more packs in and nowca week latter my nitrates and amonia are 0 very happy , it's a must have on hand for an aggressive tank so I stocked up

Awesome product. Worked way better then some other products I have purchased for nitrate control. Got my tank down to 20-40ppm in a few days a from above 150. Water is super clear. Will update if things Change but for now this is working great.Update - still working well, going to buy some more as I’m about ready to run out. Use about a package or two a month for a 55g tank.

I have 3 saltwater tanks. I've used it in all three tanks but this didn't seem to affect any of them. Maybe it's been helping, but I can't tell? The best parameters are in the big tank, and I haven't used this product in it for awhile. That said, it doesn't hurt your tank and if it works for you, great. But I haven't seen a difference. It gets 3 stars because, if anything, it's beneficial, but it's certainly not a game-changing product for reef tanks.
