When you need a competent hammer-drill this is the answer
I previously owned a porter-cable hammer-drill (7A) which worked perfectly... right up to the moment the speed controller / trigger melted down. So I decided I needed a tool that was somewhat more "serious". I was not disappointed. This is a very solid, and heavy, machine. Where the porter-cable struggled, this machine (with the matching SDS drills) makes short work of concrete bases and patio foundations. For reference I install BBQ's and mini-split HVAC systems as a supplement to my day job as a software engineer (installing mini-splits pays WAY better in the USA).A few words of caution:This is not a universal chuck - it takes only SDS bits. This is not a bad thing! The SDS system prevent slippage and makes for quick and easy bit changes. For heavy duty use this is an excellent solution. This hammer-drill is heavy compared to your average domestic drill. If you need a lightweight, cordless hammer-drill I'd probably recommend a Makita hammer-drill. By contrast the Bosch seems better suited to prolonged, heavy duty use.

This thing is awesome. I deleted an exterior door and needed to demo back the stucco around the opening so I could tie in new building paper and lath. I tried briefly to break out the perimeter stucco with a hammer, but that was incredibly slow and tedious, not to mention damaging to the underlying building paper and sheathing. With this badass tool, i was able to chip out a 6" border all the way around the opening in under 2 hours. It worked fantastically, and I am glad I bought the heavy duty version because by the end, the tool was somewhat warm to the touch. I think the steel heatsink piece really helps modulate the tool's temperature, as that was where most of the heat was, instead of the body of the tool.Since doing the stucco job, I've also cored into an interior concrete structural wall to install some racking systems, and I drilled through an exterior retaining wall to run electrical to a wall mounted light. This thing is a beast, and nothing I've thrown at it so far has slowed it down.

good drill
best hammer drill for 95% of all holes an electrician needs. If you need bigger than 1 1/8 hole, this thing may do it, but you will be pushing your luck and patience. I use it almost 3 hours a day on some jobs, and it never gets too unreasonably hot, even if the bit is hot enough to sizzle water. Never buy a hammer drill that doesn't allow you to drill only, chisel (hammer) only, or use both as this and any reputable model does. I noticed this yields less wrist pain after a hard day's use than the dewalt model that is about the same in size and specs. No complaints, and prefer it over the Dewalt, but not enough to make another trip to the van for one over the other, unless it involves several hours of repeated use (then this one wins) I drop a little motor oil in the chuck every so many uses, and I believe that helps it stay fit. Not sure what others do, or if that is wrong, just been doing that since a boss taught me to do that to his tools.

I've had it only one day, but after using a number of other chipping guns before for extended periods and this one really surprised me - it has less power but is accomplishing the same as more heavy duty models (Hilti, Dewalt, and Bosch.) Easy to hold the trigger and pound away for long periods of time without forearm fatigue. One problem: It's actually noisier than the Dewalt so earplugs are a must, even outside. There is also quite a bit of vibration, so I'm using it in short spurts - not longer than an hour.

This is a beast! PLUS MADE IN GERMANY
I had the 11255VSR BULLDOG Xtreme and it was nice and worked just fine but I upgraded to the BULLDOG Xtreme Max and it's a monster and should be called the RAGING BULL Xtreme Max or the PIT BULL XTREME MAX. This beast goes through concrete like it has an attitude and that's no bull I put it to the test chewing through 3" concrete like it was mad at something ripping up a bathroom floor and it never did over heat or lost power then i removed the towel wall around the shower and it took nothing but 15 minutes maybe 20 without any problems then i started on the kitchen and it was still running strong. Now that i put it on the line this is my number 1 tool of choice and i can't wait to put it to the big test whatever that would be and i know it will pass. The best part of this one That makes it different than the 11255VSR is that its made in Germany not Mexico and you can tell by the quality and performance and I can tell its heavy duty so thanks Busch for a wonderful tool.

Item behaving eratic. does other things than the mode i select
This is the second time i used this item since i bought it and it start giving problem. While hammer drilling the drill bit stopped and started hammering only. i had to hold the item pointing down for it to restart plus sometimes i have to spin the "chuck" area for it to start rotating. When i using the hammer mode, after awhile of using the chisel bit starts to rotate and again i have to hold the item pointing down for it to resume hammering only. Sometimes i put the switch to drill mode only and the bit start to drill and hammer. Sometimes in the hammer only mode and the bit starts to rotate.I just dont know whats wrong with it.The drill is a very nice design and feel if it wasnt for this major problem i wud certainly give it 5 stars
