Not for S4 "ACTIVE"
S4 Active does NOT require the extra circuit board on QI charging coil; I checked with Samsung.(Not sure about the regular S4)Since this product has some circuitry near the connector, the connection between charger and coil is not stable. So it keeps chafing the status charging, stop, charging, stop...You will be super annoyed by the beeping sound and the heat from the coil. The thickness is the best of all QI charging coil that I ever tried.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 and had it protected inside an "Otter Box - Defender" case. I didn't like having to open the bottom of the case every day and trying to fool with inserting the Micro USB charging cable. I started researching the possibility of purchasing a wireless Qi charging pad. There were several to choose from, but my phone also required that I purchase a Wireless Receiver Coil, in order for my phone to "communicate" with the wireless charging pad. The receiver coil is a small "card-like" device that is placed inside the back cover of my Galaxy S4. I kept reading reviews about the thickness of some of the cards causing the back cover to buldge. I definately didn't want that, so I finally settled on the TechMatte Qi Receiver Coil. I also read that the card would or could interfere with the phone's NFC functions. (which is the phone's ability to transfer information between one phone and another by simply touching them together) When the TechMatte Receiver Coil arrived, I took my phone out of the Otter Box, and removed my back from the phone. The Receiver has two small connector pins that connect to the inside of my Galaxy S4 by simply placing the connector pins over the two small contacts on the inside of my phone. The Coil has a piece of removable sticky tape that you remove, which allows the Coil to stick to the top of my battery, thus holding it in place. I then snapped the back, back onto my phone and put it back inside the Otter Box. The Coil is about as thick as a standard business card, and I noticed NO buldge on the back of my phone at all. Once I had everything back together, I placed my phone on the charging pad, and everything worked beautifully! NO MORE USB CABLE FOR CHARGING... I only use the cable now for transferring data. I then met a friend for lunch, and decided to test the NFC function, since she has the same exact phone. I opened a photo, turned on the NFC functions on both phones, touched the phones together, and the photo transferred in about 5 seconds to her phone. Everything worked great. I love the product, and the customer service is great also. I received a couple of emails from Kristin asking how I liked the Receiver Coil, and she also included contact information should I have any concerns, comments, or questions. If your tired of fooling with a USB cable for charging, you will LOVE going wireless. I simply lay my phone on the charging pad, and it beeps, then tells me that wireless charging is now being performed. The charging pad that I purchased will charge thru the Otter Box with no problem whatsoever. No problems at all with charging their phone or NFC functions.

Gets extremely hot
I bought this thing for 2 S4's that are in the household, mine and the fiance. Although it works as described, this thing makes the phone feel extremely hot. It was so hot one time after I picked it up off of the wireless charger than I dropped my phone to prevent burning myself. This occurrence happens to both the phones in the house, so I don't believe this is an isolated issue. It also seems that other users are having the same problem. I would suggest NOT buying it and simply saving your money on something else.

Works with most QI chargers
Installation was easy and quick. It also is slim enough to fit the stock back cover on, and still put my phone in a case. However it only works with one of my QI chargers and not the other. I've been contacted by the seller and they have an updated version of the charger-receiver that they hope will fix my problem. Apparently there are issues with some chargers. They are sending me the new version free of cost. The charger that it doesn't work with is the Panasonic QE-TM101, I'll update this review when I receive the new version of the charger-receiver.

The product works great but gets kind of hot while charging.
I purchased this product for the convenience and also to prevent wear and on my mini USB port on my Samsung Galaxy S4. Here is the breakdown:Pros: Convenience. All you have to do is set it on top of a wireless charging pad. I am using a Choe Technology QI wireless charging pad which I purchased on Amazon. I also use the pad to charge my Google Nexus 7.The TechMatte Charger Receiver Coil is very thin and adds negligible bulk to your S4. This means that you can use a regular phone case, even if the case is tight fitting. I am using an Incase Systm and I love that the case has a tight fit. This signal is strong enough to be used with my phone case. The TechMatte coil also has an adhesive to prevent the migration of the coil, which can also disconnect the pins if the phone was dropped. I haven't dropped my phone yet to find out. I love how the Samsung Galaxy S4 gives you multiple options to accessorize the unit. So far, I have upgraded the phone with a 32MB Micro SD card, after market 2800mAh battery made by Rav Power, and I added the TechMattte charging coil. One of the biggest advantages that the S4 has over most phones that are out in the market is the phones versatility. The S4 allows the user to add after market parts for upgrades. This receiver coil will also help keep your device in better shape because you don't have to worry about your device getting damaged from tugging on a USB charger. My phone is unlocked and I want to keep it in top condition so that I can sell it later if I decide to buy a new model. Just set it on top of the charging pad and you are good to go.Cons:I haven't had the product long enough to notice any cons. I haven't recorded the rate in which the phone is fully charged but I do notice that the S4 charges faster when you use a USB cord connected directly to the phone. I also notice that the unit can get kind of hot after about an hour of use. If I notice any further issues as time goes by, I will re post a newer review.
