This is my second Ottercase for my iPhone. The first one I purchased years ago for my IPhone 6. This one is for my business iPhone 7 Plus If you need maximum protection from falls, scuffs, and dings, this is the case for you. There are no alternatives. Cheaper versions exist, but I assure you, you will eventually return to Otter, or end up buying one out of frustration. Only Lifeproof sells a viable alternative, but it serves a different function. If you need dust and fluid protection, then Lifeproof is for you. I work on cars for a living, my phone routinely gets squeezed, crushed, sat on, and dropped. Otter takes it without a hiccup, and your phone will be totally immune. Also imo, the best holster of any case. Secure and very easy to clip into and out of with one hand, and without having to take your eyes off your work. Only drawback to these cases? The rubber tends to swell with age (although newer designs better combat this), and if you have a home button, the plastic "bubble" covering of the case will eventually swell and make unlocking your phone with Touch ID difficult. Only drawbacks I can fathom.

Best darn protection you can give your expensive iphone! Will not buy any thing else! Also the Other box company give you a 5 year warranty ,if you happen to break any of the components of the Other Box they will replace them for FREE! Need I say any mor!

I don't care for the bulk and size of the Defender case but the protection is unbeatable. I've been tempted on many occasions to go with a sleeker, lighter case but then I see my friends with their cracked screens and damaged phones and decide to keep my Defender case! My best friend switched from his defender case to a less protective one after two years and within a month he cracked his screen. I've been riding my bicycle on asphalt trails and dropped my phone only to have it go bouncing along the trail. Never any damage to my phone at all. In fact my phone looks just like new after over two years. At the cost of iPhones these days who can afford to risk damage to them? My understanding is the new iPhone X screen can cost nearly $300 to replace!! Ouch!

This is my second otter box case for my iPhone 8 Plus the only reason I replaced it was the old one was pretty grimy and I got glue on the screen protector while changing cases I couldn’t help but admire the fact my phone was still in perfect condition like the day I took it out of the box I am very rough on my phones and ever since I got an otter box I haven’t broken or damaged a phone since hands down the best thing you can buy for your phone it’s worth every penny!

Seriously live by the Otterbox code! These things are the best case yet. Bulky, yes, but they get the phone taken care of. I drop my phone so much ... there is literally NO WAY I would consider another case. Main reason is because I have, and I regretted the decision. Only thing I dislike is the thick film on the screen, but I just cut it out and put on another screen protector. So far ... smooth sailing, and East winds. :)

I absolutely love this Otter Box!! I often let my small grandchildren see my phone and they’ve dropped it a few times. It has saved my phone numerous times!!! I will keep this on my phone until I have to upgrade it.

Unfortunately I have to say that I’m cleaning out my case every 2 to 3 days with dust and dirt my previous otter box was the same style different color and no problem. The only reason I went with another case was the snaps for the hardbody broke of as a result of having to children dropping and or throwing it. All in all I’m still a fan of the brand just not having to clean my phone out constantly

We have used Otterbox defenders since the iPhone 4. I have 2 kids so we have gone through many of them - every time we get a new phone, we get the matching defender. Some people would think it’s a lot to pay and forego a quality case. Every one of our phones have been in PERFECT condition after years- not a scratch, crack, nothing. I will not buy an iPhone without one especially with a farmer husband and 2 very active teens. And I am a klutz. After seeing how many phones friends and family have had to replace for physical damage this is a game changer.

Bought this for my dad. He’s a heavy duty mechanic so he always drops his phone, or it’s always dirty. So far this phone case has been keeping the phone from harms way.Only concern is that the silent/ring button is hard to reach from all the layers, and that the touch screen delays sometimes. But overall a good product!

Not the best Otter product. Difficult to access the charging port and cheap plastic cover which scratches. I had to peel it off and installed a separate screen protector instead. Not really worth the money. The case stand does not stabilize the phone well.

Rugged, obviously.Otterbox Symmetry is scratch proof. Used for 2 years.Otterbox Defender is not scratch proof.The rubber has shown discoloured patches at the edges from scratch from the holster itself on the day of purchase itself.The plastic film is not usable and the first thing one has to do is to scrape that apart. That ofcourse voids the warranty.

The touch screen is the reason for the low rating. Unlike my Otter Box for my 5S, the plastic screen that contacts my touch screen appears to be a bit loose so doesn't pick up my touches all the time which is extremely annoying.
