Better than Gaggenau plumbed in machine!
We had a plumbed in steam oven for many years - a recent new kitchen install meant re-evaluating benefits of replacing it due to extortionate price of a new oven . The Magimix is so robust - has great large cooking capacity (plus water reservoir is so big it copes without needing a refill during cooking) -has such easy controls - and can be put away easily after use . I love it! Make poached eggs in it easily (with silicone pouches) and even cook big chunky cauli /broccoli heads I did try the Intellisteam but it’s too small, too many parts ,controls are tedious.sent it back. The Magimix wins! -even cf the plumbed oven which tended to drip on floor when taking the perforated tray out of oven. So much cheaper too!!

An excellent gadget
Expensive, but really worth it. This replaced an earlier model which we had for years. Very robust, easy to use, versatile - it does everything you could possibly want, without having to clean the hob!

Update: TRAYS ARE ALUMINIUM NOT STAINLESS STEEL
This product has ALUMINIUM NOT STAINLESS STEEL TRAYS. The water reservoir is stainless steel, it has some narrow decorative strips of stainless steel to mislead but the trays which are the parts which are in direct contact with your food while it steams are cheapskate dangerous aluminium. Don't buy.

Worth every penny.
We have been using steamers for many years now. Up to now always bought the plastic products which while working well never last long. The baskets fall apart through the plastic getting brittle from use. A steamer normally lasting about 18 months. Buying replace baskets provided expensive.Having seen this steamer we debated about buying it mainly due to the cost. Wished we'd bought it earlier. It arrived promptly in an enormous box, padded with paper (well done Amazon) The cats took over the box while we played with our new steamer. It is study and appears well made. It comes up to steam very quickly and releases very little steam into the kitchen. Also seems a lot faster than our previous steamers, possibly due to the steam not being lost.Very easy to clean, just wiped the base over with a tea towel.Very pleased would recommend. Also well done to Amazon for doing away with the plastic padding.

Best steamer on the market.
I did a lot of research and decided on the magimix steamer, its all stainless steel of excellent quality. I am looking to lose weight so this has been a great support in my journey. You can do so much with this steamer, it has two baskets so it can work for an individual or large family. Honestly look no further this is the best steamer in terms of quality and convenience. I time my steamer and go about doing my chores, its just perfect.

Worth the higher p
I was hesitant to buy a steamer at such a high price, but I like to avoid plastics if I possibly can, and the majority of steamers are plastic. So I took the plunge. This steamer could not be any easier to use, set the temperature you need (it comes with a guide book) and then set the timer. All done! So far I have made really gorgeous yogurts in it and steamed veg for various meals...they definitely taste much better than boiling them, you get a tender but not soft texture (can’t bear soft mushy overcooked veg!) and retain lots more vitamins and minerals. So easy to wash as well. Love it...just waiting to see how it stands up to regular use now. One warning - the book it comes with has some ridiculous timings for your veg - for example it suggests steaming asparagus at 100 degrees for 30-45 minutes!!! Ignore this...just cook for as long as you would normally boil a vegetable for, and add a few extra minutes. If you cook asparagus for 30 minutes it will be horrible!! I steam it for 5-6 minutes max for thick stalks, and it is perfect.

Very good!
Very good indeed, very robust and after using this for several months now I honestly say I do expect it to last for quite a few years. I have had several steamers over the years however this is the best one yet. There are a few reasons why I am not giving it five star rating(1) there is no seperate drip collection tray - so therefore the water for steaming mixes with the water collected from the food - if you want to use juices collected from the food you have to tip the whole base up to empty it into a jug(2) if you need to top it up with water during steaming you need to remove the whole basket assembly to get to the water chamber as there is no access point from the outside(3) there is no water level indicator on the outside of the unit so you can’t tell if it’s running low on water during steaming(4) if you fill it more than one centimetre below the maximum water level line the water will bubble right through the bottom steaming rack and actually boil your food rather than steam it - that’s ok for items inside a pudding bowl but not for vegetables (in this case fill it halfway between minimum and maximum - or just use the top basket). However a big bonus is that the heating element is hidden which means that limescale buildup is a thing of the past - any spots of lime left on the base you can just wipe away!
