Drill highly recommended - See update
I have tried three other rotary tools and none can match the sheer quality, comfort and stability of this tool. Although the tools that come with this are minimal, I did have a number of others from previous rotary tools and I bought a cheap(ish) set of tools to try before buying expensive ones if there’s a need.If I was to quibble, then the speed adjustment could have a slightly more positive feel to it (it slides a bit too easily) but that does mean that I can select the speeds in-between those indicated (set in double digits)The case it comes with is a bit of a waste of time as it’s very soft and flexible so, unless you have a table/bench top to lay it on to open, everything falls on the floor!.However, this review is about the drill itself which is the best I’ve ever had and highly recommendUPDATEI’ve had and used this drill for over a year, except that, due to illness (not covid, thank goodness), it’s been idle for over 4 months. Just used it again, and then put battery on charge - 3 mins later it showed fully charged. Therefore, despite 4 months laying idle, it still held it’s charge. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would.

Dremel for the Modeller.
Well, It would be 5 out of 5, But I have had a Corded one since 2008, & It was digital too. When I got this I felt it was cheaply Made, I can set my old Dremel to the speed set for the tool used, with this Dremel you have a sliding Button scale going to 10. I am Partially Sighted, I use helping hands & Magnifiers to be able to see, thanks to the RNIB. The Sliding scale is poor. No Battery power indicator, & still the old fashioned way of Fastening, NO Quick release, Chuck.I Have ended up buying extra for This Dremel Model. The Best thing about the Package is the Detailers Grip, So good in fact I Bought one for the Corded Dremel. I do like the fact no cord to worry about, But somehow I Just feel Cheated with this Dremel. It is easy to use just push & hope for the Best !! Sadly 3 out of 5 is really all it Deserves.Dremel so disappointing,

Very comfortable design
We use this to 'trim' our dogs' toenails. We've had to replace it a couple of times over the years, but we really put it through its paces. The batteries are lasting forever though. We still use the battery from the first one we had. We find a proper Dremel better for doing the dogs nails than the 'pet' versions.I'm sorry I can't comment on it for its proper use, but we're happy with it for what we use it for.

Handy. Gets quite hot
Shouldn't be used at high speed on metal for too long without breaks to cool off.Battery is convenient but doesn't last that long (~1h). Get a second if you want to work a full day with it, and swap-charge the batteries as you go.

Couldn't be without this
WOW I absolutely couldn't be without this Dremel 8100. I use it everyday for my work - drilling stone beads mostly and have coupled this with a Dremel pillar assembly. I would say I get 20 minutes of drilling time - split as 3-5 minute bursts. That doesn't sound much but then I am using a medium/high speed setting. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to fully charger the battery. Charging the battery is so easy. It slides away from the main unit and then pushes in to the charger unit.

Really good, comfortable to hold
Really good, comfortable to hold. Easy changing the heads and speed of rotation. Handy because it’s really rechargable so there aren’t any cords to worry about.

Cordless does the job
It is powerful enough with good capacity battery. Bit bulky to use for fine work but you soon get used to it. Could do with supplying a set of different size collets (bought separately) as the one supplied only takes larger bits. Nice carrying bag.

Excellent hobbyist item.
Easy to use, great range of speed / power.I use it for making model ships with wood and metal parts. Excellent versatile tool for the jobs.A bit more expensive than many - but well worth it.
