Brilliant for coloured pencil drawing.
I have bought quite a few of these pads. Nice amount of paper. The paper itself is very good and sturdy. Does take quite a lot of layers of coloured pencil and end results are excellent. Came quickly and well packaged.

Really good paper.
Very smooth, holds colour well and takes layers brilliantly. I would buy again.

Nice drawing paper but...
This is a very nice smooth drawing paper (perfect for graphite work). The bad news is that it is far, far too expensive for a drawing paper (DalerRowney 230gsm A2 Heavyweight pad has an Identical smooth drawing surface but is a lot, lot cheaper!). Strathmore Bristol Velum pad is a little larger than the DalerRowney A2 pad (Strathmore paper pad is made in the USA so is not bound by the EU 'A' type paper sizes, whereas the DalerRowney pad is made in the UK and is therefore manufactured in the European 'A' type measurement standards). DalerRowney and Strathmore are both excellent drawing papers (the price difference is the real fly in the ointment). My Strathmore paper pad arrived properly packed and protected through the mail so there was no surface damage or crumpled corners on the pad.

Bristol Strathmore vellum artist paper
Lovely paper for coloured pencil drawing, very smooth, but you can build lots of layers and erase loads of times, without tearing or going through the paper. It may seem strange but it does make a big difference to your driving. If you use the right paper. This is great and I can certainly recommend.

Good paper is more important than good pencils
Kirsty Partridge (look her up, she's brilliant!) says that for coloured pencil work, cheap pencils and good paper is better than cheap paper and good pencils. I took her advice and bought this paper and I'm very pleased with it. The paper's texture enables it to take many layers of fine, lightly-applied coloured pencil shading, which is the key to really good artwork in this medium.
