Pepper Without the Punch
Aleppo dried chilli pepper should never be mixed up with dried chilli fakes. The latter has a lot of heat, where as Aleppo pepper has had the seeds and membrane removed before grinding them up - which gives a more subtle warmth without that mule kick of heat (the heat contained within simply tingles the tongue without that Etta James "Lord I'm on fire" moment). With a slight fruity taste and a subtle smokiness, aleppo pepper will suit simple pasta and Mediterranean fish dishes best. Although they would give a serious pimping to potato grattan.Spice wise, they might be a good intermediate level for children, after an introduction to both sweet and smoked paprika.Lastly, the amount in the jar may not seem like a lot - especially considering the price paid, yet a little is surficien (don't be tempted to be heavy handed). Flavour is meant to be enjoyed, and if too hot, that heat not only effects the other flavours in the dish (by overpowering them), but a burning tongue can't mastercate properly and taste the fullness of the dish. A balance is needed, and aleppo pepper can help address this balance if used responsibly.

Wonderful
This is a really fabulous addition to the price and herb collection. It’s easy lemony and tangy. Absolutely delicious

Like the packaging and it all looks good quality but ...
Ordered chilli flakes as advertised and got chilli powder. Like the packaging and it all looks good quality but didn't get what i ordered.** Update ** tried the chilli powder and it is wonderful, such Smokey depth of flavour. Today I received a jar of chilli flakes off Zest and Zing. I had not contacted them as original jar was a gift and there was not enough time. They clearly read the review I left and sent out the chilli flakes, what great customer service thanks

Authentic Flavour
2nd time ordering this product from same company. Not the cheapest I've seen, but it's good quality and has authentic flavour. I would recommend you buy this if you are looking for the real thing.

The real McCoy
These are the proper Aleppo flakes. Make no mistake I have tried others that are stronger in chilli flavour and cheaper but not as good. But Aleppo flakes are not about hot chilli flavour and I can get that from using traditional chilli flakes. These are the flavoursome and best I've tried. (albeit more expensive!)

Not the same as aleppo pepper
Espelette pepper isn't quite the same as aleppo pepper, as some reviewers have said. The former has a Scoville rating of 4,000, the latter 10,000.Also, aleppo is much cheaper and more widely available in the UK. It's available, for example, at Waitrose as Pul Biber (the Turkish name for it) at £2.75 for 40g (at the time of writing), and here on Amazon £2.99 for 100g.
