Does the job
There's not a long to say about this to be honest. I stuck a standard spindle drive in this and it works at USB3-ish speeds. I boot Windows off of it and it works..alright. A little slow for my liking, but that could just be the spindle disk as opposed to the enclosure itself.Knocked a star off for the odd interface. I bought this to accompany my other Western Digital 2.5" hard drive with USB3 interface with the idea that I didn't need to carry around multiple cables for multiple drives. I was wrong with this one. While my Western Digital has a proper micro-B interface on it, this has a standard A socket, which means you end up with this weird USB3 A-to-A cable that's a violation of the USB standard and should be banned. Who in their right mind does this?! Surely it's more effort to get A-to-A cables manufactured than it is to just put a micro-B connector on the board?! Seriously. So beware of this. If you already have external 2.5" USB3 hard drives that follow the USB standard and don't want to be carrying around multiple cables, don't buy this...it's not standard!

Great product, but...
Bought this to house a drive to record from my TV. It's weighty and looks well made... However, and this doesn't detract from the actual product, there are no instructions on how to get the enclosure open to get the drive into it...What you have to do is:The end into which you plug the USB cable has a small clip that you push to one side then pull off the end. Then its just a matter of pushing the cradle forward from that point and fitting the drive with the four small screws provided. Finally push the drive back in and clip the end on.If I had one criticism, again that will not affect the five-stars, the provided USB to USB cable is too short.

The case is made of aluminium and is easily accessed by removing one end panel
Item arrived within suggested delivery schedule. The case is made of aluminium and is easily accessed by removing one end panel. The inner part of the case then slides out like a drawer. Screws and a small screwdriver are supplied to fix the drive to this drawer. Reassembly is straightforward - slide the drawer back into the outer case, and clip in the end panel. The USB lead supplied is 50mm - adequate if the drive is close to the device using it.As the outer case is aluminium, it acts as a sink for any surplus heat generated by the drive. When plugged in to a Linux PC, the drive was instantly recognised - it was formatted as EXT4.I would strongly recommend this drive over some of the cheaper plastic versions - well worth the extra few pounds!!

Greatt interface and Locked out Iomega or drive solution
I had a couple of Iomega portable drives that suddenly declared themselves CD drives. The forums mentioned that Iomega had been bought by Lenovo who had pulled the plug on any support. There were only a few suspect 'driver update' programs I could find that looked very suspicious. Light bulb moment - rip out the raw drives and try this case as I hadn't used any encrption. The iOmega eGo enclosures were prised apart and the raw drives extracted. The drives, once fitted in the enclosure were recognised straight away and problem solved. These are great for any such situations such as dead computers where the drives are still intact and can be extracted.

Otherwise quite nice.
Needs bumpon feet -- perhaps just include the feet in the package and let users choose whether to put the on.Otherwise quite nice. I particularly like that it has a full-size USB A connector on the drive side. This is excellent in terms of the mechanical stability of the connection (I had micro USB on the drive side before, which constantly got loose by itself and the drive got disconnected).

Good value, works well
This is a good value USB3 external hard drive housing for a 2.5" hard disk drive. Some of the cheaper ones are made of plastic but this one is metal. It has everything you need, including screws and a mini-screwdriver, and easy to follow instructions, and I had my spare hard drive installed in 5 minutes. There was a problem with the delivery and I was very impressed by the speedy response from Eaxer customer services via email.

Very nice product - so pleased with the first that I bought 2 more.
I bought this product and was so pleased with it that I bought two more within days. I use them to house spare 2.5 inch drives which I use to store backups of my desktop and laptop PCs. The enclosures have worked great with all the drives I have used them for (all traditional 2.5 inch laptop HDDs of different makes) without problems. I'm very happy with my purchases and recommend these enclosures.
