Textbook is great
The textbook alone is great. There is a lot of info and most of it is really up to date. For instance the data in the book about Neanderthal genes in our genome which was believed to be nonexistent, awesome! My professor didnt even know that information. The only bad things about the book do not have to do with the text or information within. I am renting this book and I realize it may not have been brand new but when I got it there were sheets of notes still in it, scratches on the front cover, the corners looked all beat up and like there are starting to fall apart, and some of the pages were folded over (not a huge deal). I dont mind these flaws too much because I know things happen and we cant all keep our books in amazing condition, but I just dont want to be charged full price for a book when I didnt even cause the flaws and I think I have only opened it twice since I got it. Otherwise it sits on my dresser not even being used except for when I have an exam coming up.

A very good textbook with a great suite of online learning tools
This is a very good biology textbook. It reads easily and presents the material in a clear, organized manner. The MasteringBiology online quizzes and interactive exercises that accompany this book are unquestionably the most useful online learning tools that I've ever used. They are far more helpful than any online learning tools that I used in the course of three calculus classes, two physics classes, or four chemistry classes. If you are assigned this text, do yourself a favor and actually read it. You will learn. And make it a point to use the online tools that come with it. They WILL aid in your mastery of the material and improve your grades on your exams.

Not quite new . . .
Thought this was new. Not quite new. Tagged as new item over a UsedVeryGood tag (see picture). It's showing signs of external wear but no writing,. highlighting or other marks. I'll keep it, good price, but a little unexpected.

Using this book has been quite helpful for my college studying. This book gives helpful tips of where your understanding should be as well as explaining the concepts and helping you reach your learning objectives. I recommend that you re-read chapters and draw out concepts so that they will make more sense to you. Overall, I've enjoyed using this book and highly recommend it to anyone. :)

Great text for Freshman-sophomore biology students
Its a dense textbook, like most biology texts, but I found the writing to be for the most part understandable, which is all any collegiate student can ask for. This is a versatile text that applied to several intro-to-intermediate level bio classes for my major and a vast majority of concepts were reinforced with a annotated diagram or a visual labeled image.

Would not recommend
Textbook sucks. Bery badly written. Forced to use this by UW since Freeman is a professor here. I like the diagrams though.
