Curious...i've bought one and the temp range on the product is -50 deg c to 600 deg c...not 800 deg c. nor does the instruction manual make sense.

I have not used up to that temperature highest i have used it for is 150 degrees

Very interesting, I see the ray is not a point, but a circle. Does this mean that the surface of the test range is in the circle?

yes it is i've used these before when they first came out back in the 90's as i used to be a chef so find it handy to get a better surface reading for items in the fridge or any cold spots around the home

What is the maximum distance at which it measures?

At least 3m as I’ve had it this far
