Just as expected
Simple spearmint green tea triangle bags. I use one bag for a 2 litter pitcher even with long brew times it's not bitter

Flavor weak
Had to use two tea bags to get flavor in one cup.

Bedtime Routine
This tea is absolutely delicious. I have a cup about an hour before bed, and I pour in a bit of caramel coffee creamer. It’s like a caramel apple dessert, but low calorie and so cozy.

My incredibly detailed thoughts on this tea...
I have been a tea snob basically my entire life (my Aussie grandmother started to feed me tea on a teaspoon around my first birthday and I have been hooked ever since). I have a wide range of teas that I prefer and I never, ever add anything to them- well maybe ice, but they are always black and unsweetened. I found Moringa about 5 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it, but there is a massive difference between brands and quality, so I never know what to expect. I was attracted to this tea because I appreciate that it is certified organic, the price is reasonable but mostly I was curious about the blend of green tea, moringa and turmeric- very interesting. The package arrived super quick and was completely sealed upon arrival. It is a decent sized, resealable foil pouch (that helps keep the bags fresh). There is a lot number and packed date printed clearly on the bag. I noticed that (thankfully), there wasn't a ton of air stuck in the bag. As soon as I opened the bag, I could smell the incredible aroma of this blend and my mouth immediately started to water.I had to do some digging because while the marketing does state that the pyramid bags are all natural, biodegradable and plastic free (among other things), I wanted to know exactly what material they were made from. Teaniru uses Soilon, derived from corn. This in turn makes Polylactic acid (PLA), which is a biodegradable, nontoxic, and renewable plastic that is derived from lactic acid. So while the bags are not made from a traditional plastic, they are made from a plant based, renewable plastic like material. I bring this up because I noticed that this type of material does alter the taste of the tea, and it is not my favorite taste either. It IS heaps better than a traditional plastic bag and I also greatly appreciate that they do not use glue or staples on the pyramids either. Ultimately, I remove the contents from the pyramids and just steep the leaves.Seeing I have a nice, unobstructed view of all the leaves I have made some observations.*While there are some nice sized leaves, there is a massive variety in sizes. I was a little surprised to see all of the tiny little bits of leaves, even some dusty particles. When the package arrived, it didn't seem to be smashed at all, but I have to assume some of the leaves were broken down during shipping. Even still, there are a lot of baby bits in these bags and several stems and stalks. Both the green tea leaves and the moringa are quite brittle as well.*There is quite a variety of color in the pyramids too. While there are some beautiful greens, nothing really looks overly vibrant. Matter of fact, about 40%-50% of each bag is brownish in color. That is never really a good thing.*The leaves do have a very bright, lively and fresh nose. The aroma is pleasant with green, earthy and slightly sweet and semi astringent notes.*I was really excited about the turmeric inclusion, but it seems like any of the turmeric that was in the pyramids fell out and collected on the insides of the foil bag.My inspection of the contents/leaves didn't leave me very impressed to be honest. I would expect a bit more from a company like this as they do seem to be passionate about tea. So I went ahead and got some water up to 212F (the optimal temp for moringa) and let the leaves steep for close to 5 minutes. The directions suggest using only 5oz of water, which really isn't a lot so I expected to have a very potent cup of tea.The color of the tea was...dull. It was a yellowish brown color and (sorry for this, but it is the best way I can describe the color) it reminded me of someone using the bathroom that is incredibly dehydrated. There was also quite a bit of sediment that fell to the bottom of my (clear glass) mug and a lot of sediment suspended in the tea. Maybe the sediment is the turmeric, which also adds to the color?I don't get much of a nose on this tea at all, which is surprising considering how aromatic it was when it was dry and how small the portion is. What little I smell is just typical green tea- earthy and hay like. The taste isn't terribly unpleasant. I can tell there is a ton of tannin in the tea because I get that slightly dry, astringent feeling on the back of my tongue. I get a lot of grassy notes and mild-medium bitterness, but I really don't pick up on anything else. No floral, veggies, citrus or nuts- it's a very basic tea that isn't all that complex. I get no turmeric at all- none. That is quite a strong and distinguishable flavor and I figured with the sediment and the color that I would have a lot of turmeric flavor, but I can't find it at all. Again, I am surprised that my 5oz glass isn't exploding with flavor, considering how 'potent' I thought it would be. If one was to make a 10oz or even 12oz glass, you would need 2-3 bags for sure.I am not the best person to comment on any of the health or energy benefits of this tea because I already consume moringa regularly and green tea (a lot of it) daily. I can say that on days I drink this, I feel like I always do.The most interesting thing is...I DO enjoy this tea! Actually, when I'm done with my little espresso sized cup, I do want more. I like the clean mouth feel it leaves me with and while the flavors aren't all that complex, they are actually quite enjoyable. I can't remember ever having a tea where it was such a roller coaster of highs and lows before, so to end up enjoying this as much as I do is really quite interesting. I just wish I could have more without having to use multiple pyramids.I feel like this is a very easy tea to drink, especially if you are new to moringa. Just note that the green tea notes are very astringent and grassy, not really very mild. It might not be the very best, top of the line stuff (which you wouldn't expect at this price point anyways), but it is far from the worst.Everyone is different and we all have different likes and dislikes. I hope my observations and descriptions have helped you in making your decision.
