Brilliant unit, easy to set up and use.
I bought this to replace a nano nvr which, although it said it was compatible with ONVIF cameras, I found I would lose signal at least 4 times a day for each of my cameras. Since fitting this unit not only do I find that I don't lose signal at all , I also find that it is so very easy to add cameras, configure them (especially if you use the ipcamera utility provided) and access them remotely. I am using Windows 10 with Firefox and have no problems at all.The one down side is that Foscam have yet to produce an Android viewer for this unit.I haven't tried this unit with any other makes but I can't forsee any problems as long as they are to the same standard.Certainly well worth the money.Note: if you buy the 4 camera version you also get a remote controller with which to operate it letting you mount the recorder in difficult t reach locations and can't then be stolen itself. Yet another clever idea!

Perfect NVR to accompany Foscam IPC's
Does exactly what I would expect an NVR to do for under £100. I have 4 Foscam camera's connected via Wifi back to this and installed a WD Purple 4TB HDD and it's been on and recording constantly now for 6 months without a problem. Playback of recorded media is fairly straight forward. I agree that it is a little rough around the edges and for people unfamiliar with Foscam products may find it a little tricky, but anyone with basic computer skills and a little IP knowledge can have this unit set up and accessing it from around the home and the world if so required. The only problem as I see others have experienced too, is that the firmware states it requires updating and when you attempt this the unit just reboots and does nothing else. I've not bothered looking too deep into the problem as the current installed firmware is working fine for me and as the old saying goes, if it's not broke don't touch it!

Disappointing - software not useful without FOSCAM cameras and no meaningful remote viewing
returned this after doing my best to make it work.please note I am using SV3C camers that are ONVIF compatible and work OK with other NVRs including Zoneminder, etclots of problems with the firmware/software:- search for cameras on network (of which I have 4 at present) only returns 1 camera per result - then allows you to edit result to change IP address - for the camera you actually wanted to add - but although revised IP address is shown the image shown is still from the camera found in the result (technically - I suspect that they are using the ethernet MAC addresses rather than the IP addresses - not very useful)- if you try to add cameras manually, the "ONVIF" option does not appear in the "protocols" drop-down list (which only includes FOSCAM and MV options - strangely, after editing a "search cameras" result the ONVIF option does appear)- web app only works with IE and Safari browsers because requires plug ins - they also state FireFox - but only on Wndows (because the plug ins are for Windows OS only) - no use for me with Linux desktops and remote access via Android mobile - simply does not work at all!- the FOSCAM NVR mobile app (I tried it for andoid) is not a remote viewer for the NVR but actually only for FOSCAM cameras that are configured for access via the internet via your broadband router - I need something that allows me remote access via the internet from an Android mobile to the entire security system on my premises - again, sadly does not work for me at all!I am sure that if you have only FOSCAM cameras and Windows desktop then this could be a useful product?

Good solid performance.
I use this with an old Foscam pan/tilt outdoor camera - an FI9900, several C1s, C1 Lite and a C2.I've not yet found an updated firmware suitable for this model - whilst the Foscam site shows a newer firmware for the FN3109H, the specs indicate that it can't be used with the firmware supplied from the factory. A strange situation. As it stands, I can't use this with Chrome - I have to use IE (maybe the newer firmware resolves this - but I don't want to risk bricking the unit by trying it) - it uses an ActiveX plugin - it's not a massive problem for me, I just have a copy of IE11 installed to manage the NVR.Whilst the unit can record 9 channels at once (which it does very well) - it can only playback 4 channels at a time - this hasn't been a problem for me though because I have the cameras in different areas of the house - so I don't need to see all 9 at once when looking at an event. It can also control pan/tilt cameras from within the NVR viewer, which is really handy. You can download the footage (to be edited in Movie Maker, uploaded to YouTube or whatever)I used a 4tb WD purple drive (the purple drives are better suited to use with an NVR because of the always-on nature) - with 4tb and 8 cameras I still get a couple of month's worth of footage before it starts automatically overwriting the older stuff.Foscam have recently updated the mobile app, so I can now view recordings remotely on my phone. You can also view all 9 channels in a live stream from your phone/PC.I've since set my dad up with the exact same system, he seems quite happy with it too. Overall I'm very pleased with the setup and the flexibility it gives with adding/changing cameras

Not ONVIF Compatible
This model is not ONVIF compatible and it would save a lot of trouble and annoyance if this had been made more obvious.Certain characters unavailable on keyboard. Poor design.
