Cat's Cradle (Klutz): A Book of String Figures

Nice to buy some of these old school toys sometimes and watch the excitement of children's minds. Although you can just get any piece of yarn and make it yourself, this came with a book which has pictures and 'how to make' other cats cradle shapes with your hands. Kept my little one busy for a while, she is 9 and often gets it out when she is bored so we can play. Bit expensive for what it is, but worth it in terms of the time she has spent playing with it.

Bought for my daughters 6th birthday. This is one of those gifts you buy as a stocking filler but ends up stealing the show! My daughter has honestly not put this down since she opened it on her birthday. What essentialy is a bit of string and a book, has captured her imagination and with a little practice she is creating the shapes with ease and designing a few more. On first inspection I was worried it might be beyond her to follow the instructions but she has mastered this timeless playground classic and loves it!

I bought this as a gift for an 11 year old and she has had hours of amusement from it. The diagrams are really clear and colourful. I especially liked the fact that the book is spiral bound, so you can open to a page and it will stay there without closing again. This useful when your hands are occupied with the string! The included string is good quality and still going strong after many months - no fraying at all. I would definitely recommend this book; it’s a good, old fashioned pastime.

A really good book about the old play favourite Cat's Cradle. I wasn't sure my grandchildren, aged 7 and 5, would find this as interesting as children of my era did, in far simpler times - but they were fascinated, and so pleased when they able to do create the patterns themselves. A really nice book AND with the " string " included - a good bargain.

I bought this for my 7 year old as part of her birthday present. She loved it, so did her 10 year old sister, we had to find another piece of cord so they could both have one. Then my Daughter (their Mum) remembered 'The Fly' which isn't in the book, but she remembered it after 20/25 years. We have all played for hours with it, such old fashioned fun. Well worth the money for entertainment value alone.

I purchase this for my four children who absolulty loved it! I myself used to attempt this as a child with my sister using a piece of string and it brought hours of fun.The book comes with its own colourful string, highly illustrative descriptions that are easy to follow and the quality is great.This has been a trip down memory lane and something that I have been able to share with my children. 5 Stars...

I loved cat's cradle when I was young and went on to do macrame' and tapestry weaving - The 'boy next door' introduced me to Cats Cradle and he went on to achieve a Duke of Endinburgh's gold award and was a very good yachtsman (a knowledge of knots helps you with many things) this helps a childs imagination and dexterity too - and makes a friend as it is great to share the games with someone.

My 7 year old daughter was talking about the latest craze at her school just before Christmas - Cat's Cradle. I knew Klutz did a book so I ordered it for her and it arrived in plenty of time for Christmas. It's got other things you can make too, and she's a real dab hand at them all (I only ever learned Cat's Cradle itself when I was young)
