Stramash The Scottish Board Game

Purchased this to play at Christmas with the family when they arrive. We all love a board game at Christmas. My hubby and I decided to have a go just so we could familiarise ourselves with the rules, which by the way are simple to learn and master, but devilish when put in practice. With just us two, it was great fun to try and stop the other getting their laddies reaching their castle, by landing on them and sending them back to the dock or using the Bonnie Fechter (joker) to replace their laddie with one of your own. Oh yes! Can't wait to play the game with family, as I imagine with more laddies (marbles) on the board it'll get even more difficult to get around the board to your castle without being sent back to your dock. Love the number 8, as you can only go backwards, which can be useful in certain situations. I found the the game well made, with nice wooden pieces, flocked backed so not to scratch table, cards well made, so should last a lot of handling, and the box it came in was really nice. My husband thought it was a whiskey box! Finally I loved the story about how the game originated, which was told in the rule book.

The game came in a solid attractive box and the boards fit together in a number of combinations for different number of players. The only disappointment were the 'laddies' coloured marbles who though put into an attractive leather purse, some did not survive the transport, and would have been better packaged in a disposable polystyrene strip.The game hard is relatively easy to play but it is easy to feel the fates are against you as ease time one of your laddies makes an intrepid entry on to the board, he gets sent back, to the advantage of the other player.Its challenging and the games can be over quickly or last a long time.We are trying to make a two hander work better by playing two hands each.Well done our's will be out many times in 2018

I cannot recommend this game enough. My husband and I have played it every night since we received it. So much fun but super addictive. The game relies on strategy as well as luck. Its a beautiful game to play with lovely wooden boards and marbles. This is an absolute must buy for any household!

Bought this game a couple of weeks ago as the wife and I love games instead of the telly. Had several games and both really enjoy the game. I suppose it is a variation of Ludo but using cards instead of dice makes it more interesting and strategies can be formulated.The quality of the playing cards provided is excellent but the board pieces could be of slightly better quality. Another review states that the pieces do not lock properly and we have the same issue. But with a little care, this does not spoil the overall enjoyment of the game itself.I would highly recommend this game. Can't wait to play with more players as I can imagine the devious streak in everyone will appear.

Best board game ever. Strategy and luck involved. Quality of the set is excellent and game arrived next day. Suitable for 2-6 players, but is best played with at least 4. Players have to move prices around the board using cards to determine number of moves. Bonnie Fechter (joker) sends opponent back to the start.

Bought this game as friends have it and we really enjoyed playing.It is a very good game, but, I have returned it as it is very poorly made. The boards did not fit together properly and there was glue all over one of them.

Components are top notch, just played our 3rd game and it's like Frustration on steroids! It takes 2 minutes to learn but wow it gets tense and so much more stragegy with your hand of 5 cards, this is a hidden Gem of a game, we have started a league table for our group of 4, 5 points for a win, 3 points for 2nd and 2 points for 3rd. I own a lot of Board games and this is going to be a keeper and a favourite.

Brilliant variation on Ludo with a little Scottish humour. After a couple of rounds, players have to/can negotiate/interpret the not too complete playing rules (especially around how and when to play an eight card!! One round for four can take the best part of a family or friends' evening and probably a round of six could be ideal for a day-long al fresco game on a Spanish or Greek terrace with several bottles of the local vintage. Mine will be going to the Baltic Sea this summer to fill a number of July evenings.And it doesn't require a computer, a laptop, a tablet. a Kindle or an Apps for great family fun ... but it can get wildly competetive!!Great idea.A little expensive given the quality of the product finish and the pieces AND is only available from .co.uk so needs a Euro-agent.

It is a very fun game to play my whole family enjoys it. Love how you can change the shape of the game board. One piece and box did come damaged the company apologized and sent me a new piece and box to replace it. They are very nice.

So ein schönes aus Holz gefertigtes Spiel. Macht immer wieder Spass. Sehr empfehlenswert.

il Gioco è molto semplice ma non banale; risulta divertente ma allo stesso tempo sono necessarie scelte ragionate. Le regole sono in inglese ma non complicate e si trovano online diversi tutorial. In poche parole si tratta di far compiere un giro completo a 5 palline che partendo dalla loro casa devono arrivare nel loro castello; il movimento si effettua attraverso mazzi da carte (2 mazzi fino a 4 giocatori, 3 mazzi in 5/6 giocatori). Giocato in squadre diventa ancora più intrigante. I materiali sono buoni. Lo consiglio.

Ho scoperto questo gioco mentre cercavo informazioni per pianificare una vacanza in Scozia, le regole sono molto semplici ma il gioco consente di passare tempo in famiglia e con amici in modo originale e con un gioco nuovo. Il prezzo non è economico ma i materiali con cui è realizzato sono di buona qualità. Chissà che non me lo ritrovi in qualche pub scozzese la prossima estate...
