PMDD help with supplements
I want to write this to help people diagnosed with PMDD that can't or don't want to get on birth control and don't want to get on antidepressants. I am not doing this as a doctor but someone that has experienced it and found a solution that works for me. It may not work for everyone else. That being said I'll keep it short as possible. I had severe postpartum depression after I quit breastfeeding my daughter. Very severe. I let it go too long because I didn't know what was going on. The doctor prescribed me lexapro and it worked a little at first but it took it a full 8 weeks to work better and even then it didn't get rid of all of the symptoms. It was a low dose but I didn't want a big dose because I knew I would be getting off of it soon and just wanted the help for a little while. I wish I would have started my supplements then instead of the lexapro because I now know hormone imbalance was my problem. My prescription ended at 5 months after starting it and that put my daughter at 1 year. I weaned off of it and it wasn't too bad but I started getting really weird symptoms. After I would ovulate I would go into a rage for 2 weeks with severe mood swings. I told my doctor about it and they wanted to put me on birth control which I can't take due to the type of migraines I get. So they wanted to put me on Prozac. I took one dose of Prozac and it made me feel super weird so I was determined to find out what the root of my problem was instead of taking Prozac. I also was having pain on the right side under my ribs and my throat kept having a swollen feeling. After tons of research I found it is very common to be hypo/hyper thyroid after a baby and that estrogen dominance is very common. The pain in my side was due to excess estrogen messing up my gall bladder function and the swollen feeling in my throats was due to the hypothyroid. I also had the other symptoms that goes along with these two issues i.e. Mood swings, anxiety attacks, hot and cold flashes, sleepiness, irritability and so on. I did research and started taking these two supplements.https://www.amazon.com/Thyroid-Support-Supplement-Vegetarian-Ashwagandha/dp/B00M13NHFY/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495635876&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=thyroid+support&psc=1https://www.amazon.com/DIM-BioPerine-Metabolism-Menopause-Aromatase/dp/B006KL4TYG/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495635915&sr=1-4&keywords=DimThyroid support and DIM. I also took some other additional supplements to help with the estrogen metabolizing because I was miserable and desperate.https://www.amazon.com/Thorne-Research-Picolinate-Absorbable-Supplement/dp/B002TPK1F8/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495636038&sr=1-4&keywords=zinc+picolinatehttps://www.amazon.com/Thorne-Research-D-Glucarate-Detoxification-Capsules/dp/B0012MZZLE/ref=sr_1_sc_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1495637884&sr=8-3-spell&keywords=calcium+d+glucarteI can go into detail on what these do but I'm trying to keep this brief. Anyway they started working within a week. I started feeling better. I took 2 DIM a day for 2 months in addition to the normal doses of the other supplements. I gradually kept feeling better but I'm an impatient person and I had been feeling bad for so long I wanted it to feel totally normal again as soon as possible. After more research I found that Curcumin helps you feel better while the DIM and Thyroid support does it's job. It took me a long time to get to feeling this way so it would take a while for me to get out of it. I ordered one brand of curcumin that's no longer available but I've replaced it with this onehttps://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Bioperine-Available-Standardized-Curcuminoids/dp/B01DBTFO98/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495636427&sr=1-4&keywords=curcuminI started feeling like myself at Day 5 of taking this. It's amazing. I sometimes take up to 9 a day but it's on days I feel particularly terrible which always coincides with my hormone cycle (or slight hangover) but I always take at least 3 a day. No side effects or any issues with this. It's amazing. It keeps me sane while the dim and the thyroid support correct the issues I've had. I just wanted to write this to give people an option to try before antidepressants. You should know within a week of these supplements will help you or not. I'm not doctor. I'm not trying to get anyone to stop taking their meds. I am simply putting out there an option that worked for me and took a lot of trial and error to figure out.So my daily supplement regimen that initially worked for me. I have since lowered my doses after 2 months of this.2 DIM by smokey mountain naturals one morning one night. I would recommend only taking 2 if your estrogen dominance is severe and only for 1 month. After that lower to 1 a day.Thyroid Support by 1 body 2 in morning1 Calcium D Glucarate by Thorne research3 turmeric curcumin with bioperine by Schwartz bioresearch sometimes more1 double strength zinc picolinate by Thorne research in morningFish oil in morningRelaxed mood gummies by vitafusionNeuromag magnesium l-threonate by life extension at night. 1 scoop.I now only take1 DIM2 Thyroid Support2 Relaxed mood gummies3 Curcumin and occasionally more throughout the day.Magnesium at night. It's a lot of supplements and some are a little expensive but I prefer this to Prozac. Please PM me if you have any questions. I've tried a lot of things in addition to these that I didn't list because I wanted to keep this as short as possible. Again this is just what worked for me and I am not a doctor. I was just desperate for anything to help me that wasn't an antidepressant.
