Not just great for games, but also for productivity.
First of all, I don't game much, but I was looking for an external programmable keyboard for productivity, to take some strain off my hands. After reading reviews and comparisons, I landed on the Logitech G13. One of my reasons for choosing it was the reported ease of programming, including macros on the fly, which is essential to my work. It also looked like it would suit me ergonomically.Unless it has durability issues, which it is too early for me to tell, and which would be a warranty or return case and therefore not relevant to the functionality of the keyboard, I must say I am very pleased with my purchase. It fits my hand nicely, though some peripheral keys are not so easy to reach for my relatively small hands unless I lift my palm from the rest. This is fine as I will occasionally be moving my hand back and forth from my keyboard while using it anyway.Setup was a doddle: after the Logitech control software was downloaded, it was just plug and play. Programming, even complex macros, is quick and easy, and within a few minutes, I had a setup that saves me from any ctrl- or alt-combination hotkeys, as well as mousewheel scrolling for my current work. All in all, I don't save any time compared to using just a regular keyboard and mouse - I can do that really fast - but now I can take the same time working at what seems a more relaxing pace, with less intensity of focus, and with fewer key clicks, mouse clicks or scrolling - all of which was starting to put big strain on both of my hands as I am in the middle of a period of very high productivity with lots of repetitive tasks. As I keep using it, I will extend my use to other applications - especially Illustrator where I use lots of keyboard shortcuts - as well as eventually trying it out for gaming, where I can see it would be hugely beneficial compared to just a regular keyboard.

Ultimate Control Solution
In fact its great for productivity too ie: FL STUDIO, there are loads of apps out there that can be used on its lcd screen for motherboard monitoring etc, the keys look beautiful too with 16million colour support.Without a doubt one of the best peripherals i have ever bought, its rugged, well made and looks ace illuminated. As i say not just for gaming, its great for things like music production too, ie can program chords to keys using the macro function, very good indeed, or even different quantised drum beats, who needs a novation launchpad! The joystick is in fact a built in analog mouse controller too with full directional control of the cursor or digital control of the wasd keys. (or any other keys)Im currently using it with MSI afterburner software as it has support for the g13/15/510 built right in it (awsome) it displays everything FPS, TEMPS, FAN SPEEDS, RAM, VIDEORAM, the lot!AIDA64 is another great bit of software, lets you add your own pictures in BMP formatIf you look around on google there are even games you can play direct from its lcd like snake and space invaders!

Aid productivity. Saves fingers. Good.
I use this keypad for Adobe Photoshop by assigning keyboard shortcuts in the logitech software. It is very comfortable under hand, illuminated and has switchable profiles (for different apps or workflows). Once muscle memory takes over there is no need to look to see which key is you need, this is brilliant when editing or compositing as your eyes never need to leave your monitor. This is far better than a standard keyboard where you may need to hold CNTL+SHIFT+ALT + another key to access a tool or function - just set a macro in the software and one key can be assigned instead. Easier on hands ! The shape of the keypad aids finding the right key.Perfect companion to a Wacom Graphics Tablet.

Good, but try to test before you buy.
It does what it says, it does make some gaming easier but I ultimately had to return it. It was too big for my hand, and the keys did not feel nice to me. I am a keyboard snob, I love mechanical keys so maybe that was it. I'd suggest giving it a try before buying. The joystick was too small and was not comfortable to use; I reverted to using the keys on the pad to move in games. The LCD is a nice addition, seeing stats in games like LoL and being able to see CPU/RAM load and temps is also a nice feature. I own the Logitech G600 mouse and it is great, the software is one of the great features and this game pad uses the same software; no faults to report there.

Still the best gaming board made - update it, Logitech!
I never thought I'd still be using a peripheral from 17 years ago, but I've yet to find a replacement.I initially discovered dedicated game boards around 2003 while playing Everquest. Needed something more programmable as playing a Ranger without one made raiding in the pre-voice era challenging. Started with a Nostromo and discovered controlling movement with my thumb much easier that the classic WASD set-up. When Logitech released their own gaming board, I traded up as the increase in buttons was helpful. It's now 17 years later and I still use this daily, and heavily. The thumbstick once programmed makes movements infinitely easier and more intuitive than the WASD configuration. Thumbsticks have been used on game controllers for decades for a reason. I did swap out using a wider thumb stick from a similar era Logitech gamepad and it fit perfectly and put less wear on my thumb. The keys are still programmable using Logitech gaming software, though you need the older version, not the newer Logitech G control panel. Key response is very good for being membrane and have a nice tactile feel. The software allows each key to be fully programmed, including delay, up/down trigger, key, macros, etc... It does take a little time to set up each new game but I've learned to map similar controls (run, crouch, main attack, etc...) to the same key in each game, which makes switching from one game to another very easy.Durability has been great. My first lasted for 10 years of almost daily MMORPG and FPS usage before one of the thumb buttons died. I picked up a replacement and shortly after saw they were discontinued. I picked up two more on the cheap when they were being clearanced before the price sky-rocketed.I've since added macros for every program I use - photoshop, DxO, excel, etc... This has dramatically sped up workflow and allows me to have one click function without needing to change main keyboard controls. I've honestly fearful when eventually the gaming software is no longer compatible with windows. I'm hoping Logitech sees their error and brings this back.I've tried Razer, Belkin, Ifyoo, etc - the Logitech is still superior. Either the other options don't have enough keys, or they don't have a thumbstick. The razer is the closest option but the four equal key rows doesn't work as ergonomically as the 7-7-5-3 configuration of the Logitech - it's easier to reach/extend your fingers than tuck them under to hit lower keys. There's a reason the Logitech still sells for $150 used and $250+ new. If you can snag one, learn to use it, your gaming will improve significantly. Also contact Logitech and ask them to consider releasing an update.Edit 4/25/23:Still going strong, still standing up to daily wear. The rest is complete worn smooth but the keys still work perfectly. I see a number of youtubers now modding other gaming keyboards to add a thumbstick to them. One company is even selling a dedicated thumbstick you can use with a standard keyboard. Logitech, it's time to bring this back!!! Demand is there!!! Still the best gaming peripheral I've ever purchased.

An essential Item,
Honestly, gaming without one is rubbish now. The buttons are sturdy and responsive, the shape is perfect and fits to my hand and no button is out of reach. I personally use the thumb stick for hot keys in game more than not, but it works well as a stick for movement as well. If you are really serious you can use the WSAD layout, (using the G4, G10, G11, G12 buttons), thumb-stick and mouse you can naturally control all directions of movement in a way that requires no strain and extreme accuracy that can only be surpassed by a high end flight stick set-up.
