I have been a professional and a home winemaker for 32 years. As a home winemaker I have used traditional 750 ml glass bottles sealed with corks. I then started using flip top 1 liter bottles so I didn't have to buy and deal with corks. They worked ok but you have to be very careful about cleaning the bottles properly and use vacuum sealers to keep the wine from oxidizing after the bottle is opened. I decided to try the 3 L bags 3 years ago and I love them! There is a learning curve but once you get the process down they are faster to fill than bottles. We have opened a bag and drank out of it for over 30 days with no loss of quality or oxidation of the wine (it took a lot of self control to not finish it off faster.) There are some good videos that will help you learn how to use the bags. I do a little wood working so I build some custom boxes to dispense the wine instead of using the plane old cardboard ones. They are a real hit at parties, weddings, and holidays.

If you're on the fence about trying these out my recommendation is to just go for it. Way less drama than bottles and can make your friends slap it before taking a pull.Quick notes:- These will hold closer to 1 gallon if you really fill them up all the way.- I've had these come with pin-holes in them in the past. The power move is to set them in some sort of catchment basin overnight and check them again before putting into long-term storage.

I recently purchased some cold brew coffee from a favorite coffee bean roster. It came in a box like boxed wine.I have brewed cold brew coffee before but I did not think about putting in a box with a bag like this one. These bags work well and allows me to make a fairly large quantity of cold brew and easily keep it in my refrigerator and dispense it easily. I reused a box from my first cold brew purchase.Most of the time I make hot coffee from the cold brew mixture. I mix about 60% coffee and 40% water and heat it in the microwave. When you are in a hurry and don't want to take time to brew a pot of hot coffee this is a quick alternative. If I would brew the coffee longer than 24 hours it probably would be stronger and a 50% mix would work but it all depends on how strong you like your coffee.To make sure I liked these I purchased the less expensive ones that you fill where the spout is attached. So far so good but it does appear that the bags with the screw off top on the opposite end would also work and allow me to refill the bags several times. These seem to be durable and could be refilled but getting the spout out of the bag to refill them would be a challenge and maybe leak. I have not tried to refill one of these. The refillable ones are more expensive and these may be a good value unless I could refill the ones with a screw top about 4 times.It is less hassle to not refill the bags because washing a refillable bag and drying out the inside is not easy and can be messy.If you are into cold brew coffee this makes a very nice way to store and dispense it and even if you don't reuse this type of bag it is still a good value.
