The book series is an excellent resource, primarily for practising and better understanding words useable in Mandarin, but also as a means to prepare for HSK exams. The format is clear and the book compact. This is accompanied by the audio files that perfectly support the lasting experience. I am very happy with my purchase.

After enjoying the first book in the series (Elementary) I was already looking forward to this one. Excited to be able to learn more Chinese as well as enjoy more great stories like the first one.It provides a really nice range of different story types from folktales, myths, modern stories, poetry, idioms, stories from the classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms, accounts of great historical figures. Loads of variety to enjoy.Having bilingual versions and Chinese-only version for every story is great, as well as the key vocabulary list and sentence patterns. Self-learning/teaching can be tough so its great having everything necessary to progress on my own terms. The audio is available on both YouTube playlist and to download as MP3, it’s awesome to have the option as sometimes I also like to listen with audio downloaded on my phone.Just like the Elementary book it also has extra learning tips and “culture corners” that accompany the stories. I personally really enjoy getting that deeper understanding of Chinese culture as well as language and think it’s really important to have that appreciation in order to speak a language well with native speakers - you can definitely communicate much better when you have a deeper insight into the culture!Overall fantastic book, it legitimately makes learning more fun. I hope there are more to come in the series!

This book covers 31 well-known Chinese stories using intermediate modern Chinese language. I highly recommend this book as a very effective learning aid. Each story has pinyin and English in addition to the Chinese characters, key vocabulary, learning tips and sentence patterns, plus a Chinese-only version. The free audio is read by native Chinese speakers, good quality and clear. Each story is interesting and is a great introduction to Chinese culture, you will not be disappointed with this book.

This book is really enjoyable to read but teaches you practically useful modern Chinese at the same time. The guidance on how to study is also extremely useful and accelerates your learning.

I have both of these books and I am enjoying reading them over again. I am not only learning the language but learning something of Chinese culture at the same time, which I am very much interested in. Thank you LingLing

Another great edition to the series. Has some nice new words and phrases to stretch the intermediate learner.Favourite story: The man who spent 10 years becoming a kung-fu master to get revenge for the death of his wife!

The media could not be loaded.  LingLing is a great author! Really enthusiastic about chinese language learners! I love the design of her books and I love that she includes pinyin and audios for the readings! I have bought all her books so far and totally recommend them!

This is a great resource that makes learning Chinese fun! Each story comes with Chinese characters, which is great for those who want to practise their Chinese reading, pinyin, for those who need some help, and English translation that makes the stories accessible to everyone regardless of their level of Chinese. I particularly like how the book introduces new sentence patterns with examples in context, and also the "Learning Tips and Culture Corner". I already had the first book in the series before I got the second book, so I came with high expectations for this second book, and I must say I'm very impressed. Thanks LingLing!

It is absolutely amazing! I have been trying to read for a bit, which can be challenging, but this book is such a great help with vocabulary, pronounciation and the stories are very interesting as well! Can only recommend!---German:Nur zu empfehlen!

Livre agréable à lire, avec de jolies illustrations. Le vocabulaire est clairement expliqué et plusieurs points de grammaire expliqués. Je recommande
