This product has been a revelation for me. After months of my bark covered front garden being attacked daily by some very large wood pigeons, I bought this product, sceptical to say the least that it would work. However, I am definitely a convert. This product has proven to be highly effecting at keeping those pesky little blighters away from my garden. In the several months I've been using it, I've only come home to a bark strewn drive once and I can only assume that was caused by a cat/fox (I have it on the bird setting) or a deaf super pigeon. The solar panel has been sufficient to maintain a charge and the device has worked without failure since setting it up. The best possible thing I can say about this, is that I will be buying another for the rear garden.

Good in theory, but battery life is a huge problem
The theory of this is great because the sound it makes really does hurt your ears, so I really think it would keep animals away. Unfortunately it's completely let down by the battery power. The rechargeable batteries that came with it are useless so I changed these to high capacity Duracell ones, but they seem to only last a couple of hours. We had lots of sunny weather recently and it was positioned in the sun all day, so clearly the solar panel on the top does nothing for the batteries. In the end I had to send it back because we couldn't keep it working long enough to actually repel any animals.

Looks as if it is going to be very effective.
It was a windy day today and after setting it up in what I thought was the perfect position, an hour later I noticed it was repeatedly tripping for no apparent reason. I had my suspicions it was seeing a nearby bush waving in the wind and this turned out to be the case and may explain why reviewers on similar products reported a short battery life. So position is everything, make sure there are no bushes within view, use the 110 degree angle to block out anything you don't want it to see, or position it as I have done using a convenient tree to block out an area I want to move around in without tripping it off constantly. It is early days yet as I only just set it up but now it is dark, I can see why this flashing screeching demon is going to see off the cats that have repeatedly been fouling our compact front lawn. The range is 8 - 9 metres so anything bigger may require more of these strategically placed. I will update this review once I have a better idea of how effective it is, but I do have a very good feeling about this.I have marked this down a star having used this unit for some time. I have to give it full marks for the reason I purchased it, which was to scare off cats from fouling our front lawn and this it has successfully achieved over the winter period. In fact during the snow you could see the tracks of a cat crossing in front of the scarer and then elongating as it ran away. However, over sensitivity continues to be a problem and I cant turn it down enough to stop it going off continually in any breeze, no matter how far away from shrubs I locate it or where I point it. But even worse, we went through a very calm period in the April 2018 heatwave, it was exposed to lots of direct sunlight for long periods, yet at the end of the heatwave I noticed it had stopped working and needed to be brought inside for recharging, yet again. It does last a reasonable length of time if you do what I did which was to put in 2300mah rechargeable batteries, but even these are not enough to keep it going more than a few weeks. So basically the solar charging is a gimmick that doesn't work, but notwithstanding that, if you upgrade the batteries from the very inadequate ones that come with the unit and are prepared to plug it in and give it a charge every few weeks it is still worth having this on your lawn as it does fulfil its basic purpose. When charging it is OK to switch the unit off and it will continue to charge. For some reason only known to the designers, if you leave it on, plugging it in to the mains causes it to ignore the PIR and go off continually until it is unplugged again.

Makes the children cringe
Apparantly this is very shrill and high piercing. It seems people over a certain age cannot hear it. However you always know when the younger ones do as they look like they have just swallowed a super sour sweet while having their ear drums drilled. They said it hurts their ears. Our cat strolled right past. Hoping the neighbourhood cats find it discouraging though.Battery life lasted days. Which was good as we have misplaced the wire that charges it. For anyone looking, it says USB which it is, but the connecting hole is round, not a standard USB fitting.

Yeeehaaaaaa!!! Cats have lost their interest in my garden. Well chuffed!!
Have had this item for 3 weeks and not seen a single cat. 2 days ago, I saw one sitting on the fence. it obviously decided to have another go and jumped down into my garden. The scanning light came on, and I have never seen a cat get out of my garden so quick. A couple of hours later I spotted the same cat back on the fence, scanning the garden for any danger. It decided the risk wasn't worth it and disappeared. My Jack Russel dog has not been affected and happily trots around the garden when ever it wants. Recommended! Excellent product, worth every penny!!

Not effective
The neighbourhood cats at first would leave the garden when this thing went off, but after a while, they actually started pooping right next to it. I think they saw it as a challenge, which they duly accepted. It also would randomly go off at the slighest breeze, even after removing branches out of range

Works well
I was very sceptical about this product but it actually works! The next door Neighbours cat fouled in our garden everyday religiously but since installing this 5 days ago there’s no sign of any mess whatsoever!I've seen the cats approach the garden, the sensor has activated, the cat reacts to it and legs it out of the garden. These things have been a huge breakthrough.I was sceptical at first but so far so good.

Works but does not deter.
If you are looking for a device to deter pigeons, Do Not Waste Your Money with this product, it does not perform as intended.Yes, battery life is great, motion detection works, you actually hear the acute sound emittted by the speaker and the lights do flash when it detects movement, but none of this is any good if they do not deter the pigeons from my balcony. The pigeons in the picture stood there for the better part of 15 mins, moving around as if the device was not there.I will be requesting a refund soon.
