Light, easily portable drive. Supplier "Longtop" was efficiently responsive.
The unit requires two cables, not just one shown in the picture. One is a USB data cable and the other is a USB to power-plug.On the underside of the unit is a small lever that can be used to release the lid catch even if there is no electrical power. This feature means that you can retrieve the disk that you forgot to extract before you unplugged the drive from the computer. Nifty, huh?The lid opens to an angle of about 60 degrees.If you need to travel with a USB drive then you might like to know that the bare (unboxed) drive and the two cables that I received together weigh 277 grammes.The drive was recognized by various versions of the OpenSUSE edition of GNU/Linux and the lid catch could be operated by software such as VLC. The original edition of this review contained some remarks about behaviour but it later transpired that the drive was faulty and it soon became incapable of reading any disk. Instead of drive performance remarks, I therefore offer some remarks about the supplier:The day after I posted the original three star review I received a message from the supplier (Trading name "longtop", company name "Shenzhen Qiao Zhuo E-commerce LTD") noting that a three-star review indicated some dissatisfaction and expressing a desire to improve my satisfaction level. The supplier also attached a comment to the review and you can read that for yourself, here on the Amazon website.I replied to the email and reported my own findings and promptly received an offer to replace the drive, albeit with a different model because the original clamshell model wasn't available at that time. Two different "tray-loading" models were offered for me to choose from. This does mean that I will be unable to evaluate the performance of the original "clamshell" model. The replacement drive unit was received promptly and at no further cost.

External CD/DVD player that works with Windows 10
I like it enough that I am happy to recommend it. It has been a few weeks, but so far so good. I feel it is a bit noisy, but unless you are listen to something very quiet I am sure it won't be a problem.The seller is definitely customer focus and will do what he can to help. I had bought this product as an alternative for one of the seller's product on Amazon.I would not hesitate to recommend dealing with this seller.

Very happy with Dvd drive, used for playing DVD's at the moment, works well. I like the flip up open top, easy to use.Set to region2 worked first time.Arrived two days early.Would definitely recommend.

Faulty unit?
Maybe I was unlucky and it was just a faulty unit... I bought the drive to allow me to watch DVDs on a laptop (using USB and VLC), but half of the DVDs were not recognized (although all of them are 'standard' and region 2), and those that happen to start had the tendency to froze after around 30 minutes. I am not particularly picky and it is the first time I had to return something to Amazon (and of course the first time I leave one star, I never leave reviews if I am happy with the item!)

It's hard to review this product as it doesn't work on my laptop. I suspect that this is due to a laptop malfunction rather than a malfunction of the External DVD Drive itself.

Good value, plug and play device.
Hassle free installation. Very quick delivery. There is a lot of noise when first reading the discs but then it settles down and quiet when running. Only used it for a short while and happy with it. Good value.
