This is a gem - everyone should read it! As a former dancer, I was intrigued by the cover of the book, but it wasn't until I dived into the book that I was completely floored! What an incredible personal journey from a "fragile" ballerina in Poland to a "hardcore" Intelligence Officer in the US Military so beautifully written by Rakowski. This is truly a book that you come out with feeling like you have not only bared witness to greatness but have vicariously experienced the sweat, the pain, and the heartache of pushing one self to the limits in order to fulfill one's dreams. I can't wait for everyone in my family to read it so we can have a book club like discussion. There is so much in there!!!

Joanna Rakowski's memoir is a must read if you want to get a real appreciation of the daunting challenges military training presents . This book was a page turner for me. Joanna tells of her reinvention of self in a compelling manner as she masters mental and physical obstacles and achieves daunting goals She brings the reader to the training ground with her. This book is truly inspirational. Her candor in sharing her journey to becoming a U. S. Army Intelligence officer provides a rare view into the intelligence, commitment , and fortitude required to become a member of this elite group.

What an amazing story ~ thank you for your honesty and openness. I also was Ballerina but definitely didn’t have your courage to join the military.I highly recommend this book. Bravo to the Author for such an amazing adventure!

This was an incredible journey from start to finish! If you've ever wanted to know how someone becomes an army intelligence officer, look no further, and tie in this amazing woman's unconventional journey to boot! Joanna surprised me at every turn with her determination and inability to quit, she was such an inspiration on the page. This was grit and resilience, hard work and tears, from ballerina to combat boots. You won't regret reading it!
