We had a pervasive musty smell in our basement since moving into our new home that we could not figure out where it came from. We spent thousands of dollars cleaning it , thinking it was the 3 dogs and the cats from the previous owners… but nothing helped for long. I always thought it might be coming from the drains because it always got worse when it rained (we’re on septic). I flushed the drains in the basement bathrooms and covered them with these, since we never use those bathrooms… mostly because of the musty smell! Now the smell is gone and has been for months!!!! I just go down every now and then the make sure to run some water to flush the drains and put those back. Easiest and cheapest fix to a longstanding problem!!!

I use this in my camper to cover the drains when the camper is closed up. We have no smells from the black or the gray water tanks..
