UDI U46 Mini Drone for Kids 2.4Ghz RC Drones with Auto Hovering Headless Mode Nano Quadcopter, Blue

I've been mucking around with entry-level drones for indoor flying for years now. I've always like the UDI drones for their durability and ease of control. This little thing is the best drone for kids and beginners that I've tried so far.One of the most unique and best things about this drone is that it's SLOW (painfully slow for experienced users). But for beginners or kids, it's the perfect training drone. It has 3 speed settings, the slowest of which allows you to smoothly glide around indoors. The medium and high speeds never really reach the pace of other mini drones in this class, but for beginners, the speeds are perfect.And for a drone in this low price range it has some admirable features. This mini has headless mode, auto take-off and land; both work great. The altitude hold is good considering this little guy has no external sensors.The build quality is exactly what I expected. It's solid, light with non-removable prop guards and a non-removable battery. UDI gives it an 8 minute flight time but I clocked out at just over 6 minutes of continuous flight, which isn't bad. The battery isn't removable, and the charge time is about 30 minutes, but for a drone this good and inexpensive, just get two.The remote control looks like the standard for this class of mini drones, but this new UDI controller feels much more solid and substantial than others I've had. It's simple and easy to use and the instruction booklet (with it's comical translations and tiny font) does a good job for showing you how to calibrate and trim then fly.This mini drone is my new favorite indoor flyer. And i'll be getting one for my 7 year old god-son before I let him play with the Phantom.Well done, UDI. You've made the slowest drone ever......and it's great.

The Good:The design is really good both the drone and the control is truly pocket sized and aesthetically pleasing. It holds trim better than the other under $50 drones I have tested. Its super nimble in level flight and climbs quickly. Also the noise of its ducted fans seems to be less annoying than similar non-ducted versions and its naturally crash resistant. Really great indoor beginner drone - fun for everyone.The Bad:Well I lost it in an irrigation canal on the 4th flight. Pilot error I suppose to be flying outdoors in the first place (it cannot handle almost any wind), and that I failed to activate the e-stop function in time. The lack of standard throttle control (left stick down only lowers it VERY slowly) was a major contributing factor. I don't know a way to turn off altitude hold but really wish I did, its good for beginners but I find it very annoying not being able to easily get it down quick. There is a way to emergency cut power but I didn't hit it in time and got blown into the canal. In short, don't fly it outdoors.

This little thing is a ton of fun. Very easy to use indoors for all ages. It is easy to control(only slightly more difficult than a RC car). My 9 year old niece had no problems maneuvering it. Battery life is short lived, but by the time the battery runs you’re usually ready for a break anyways.

Product is amazing for it’s price. It’s a lot of fun but it does not hold a true stable flight. The entire thing is plastic and by bending the frame a bit you can sort of stabilize or destabilize the entire drone. I would not expect it to be any more rigid for the price you pay. It is worth the money but it’s not even close to a real thing.

Purchased 4 of these for my Brothers and Dad and everyone loved it. Not just for kids but good to play with for all ages! For those wanting to purchase the real Drone and is not ready to spend the big bucks, I suggest you start with this small drone and practice how to use it and how to balance. This mini drone helps you get ready to start the big stuff. Great purchase and I would purchase again.

I don't recommend this at all. It broke within a few days after we bought it. It had a mind of it's own, and it died so quickly. I mean, for 20 dollars this is a cheap waste. This was poorly made. I know, I got this a while ago. But as I was scrolling through my orders, I saw this and forgot to give it a review. This product isn't really good for beginners, unless you know what you're doing. This isn't a really good drone at all. And it is incredibly SMALL!!!!! I was at least hoping it would be a little bigger than that. This is a little too expensive for how this is made. Didn't get to return it either since it broke. When we turned it on again, it wouldn't fly. It just sat there. So yeah, be careful shoppers. Don't waste money on things like this. I feel bad to give it a one star rating, but it really deserves it. Poor durability. Who even knows, it's probably more expensive now.

I got this drone for my son's birthday and he loves it. It is a great toy. But the seller was even better. My son accidentally broke the charger (charger is good quality, but he is a 9 yr old boy and wasn't careful with it). I wanted to make sure that I got the right charger so I contacted the seller (Charm-Store). They offered to send a replacement charger free of charge and had it off the next day. I was just amazed. My son was so happy to be able to fly his drone again.In summary, the drone is great, definitely get it, but check out what else Charm-Store has. Sellers like them should get more business.
