Great knife, great price
First of all great presentation, although a bit wasteful. Knife is sharp, and strong. Handle is comfortable and doesn't slip in your hand, even wet. Good size for most tasks, not to bulky, allows for easier handling. Ferro rod works great, and the whistle is loud. When you push the knife into the sheath, and it stops it does rattle a little bit, but if you push a little further the knife goes into the sheath properly and sit quietly with no rattle. Just gotta push past the first stop. Overall great buy, would definitely recommend.

Another Great Knife From HX Outdoors
I have gotten a few knives from HX Outdoors, all of which are quality knives, especially for their price. This exquisite specimen is no exception and is actually the best one I've gotten so far. This knife is a very well made bushcrafting and survival beast.Features and Specs:- It is of course a full tang knife, easily confirmed by the good old magnet test.- The overall fit and finish is great with perfectly even and clean grinds. I found no flaws whatsoever.- The blade on this thing is a hefty and significant chunk of steel. Measuring 0.187"/4.75mm at the spine.- It is well balanced, but it is a tad blade heavy because of it's beefy blade. It's not very bad at all though.- It is made of D2 high carbon tool steel. Which is a good and commonly used steel for many knife brands.- The blade has a black finish on it to prevent rust and such, however I don't know what it is.- It is plenty sharp right out of the box and has a pretty fine and perfectly even edge on it.- The handle is a very comfortable, full sized, composite handle, with rubber grip panels. Though it is composite, the bottom of the handle could definitely be used for striking and hammering within reason.- The spine has an aprox. 7/8" section that is purposely ground with sharp 90 degree edges for striking farro rods. However, the rest of the flat section of the spine is also still sharp enough for farro rod use.- Lastly, the handle has a lanyard hole at the bottom of it if you would actually want to attach one.Not only is the knife impressive, but the composite sheath is quite impressive too, and is extremely versatile. It holds both the knife and included ferro rod very well and firmly with a nice solid click. However, the most impressive part is just how many different ways you can attach the thing to yourself or your gear.- You can mount it to your belt in several different ways, both vertically and horizontally.- It can be worn on your leg like a drop holster.- It can be worn with or without the nylon webbing. Of which has multiple different configurations itself.- It can be worn free swinging or firmly mounted.- The thing is just simply an incredibly versatile sheath. I probably still haven't found all the ways it can be worn or mounted. It's like a transformer! An Autobot of course. As far as extras, you of course get the sheath mounted ferro rod that has a whistle built into the handle. It is a smaller ferro rod, but is plenty good enough for dependable use and the handle gives you plenty of grip to easily hold onto it. However, the best part is the whole knife comes packaged in a nice plastic hard case. It is pretty much like a Pelican case knock off, just without any kind of seal or the purge valve. It is definitely a good, heavy duty, and durable case that can be repurposed for all kinds of things like camping, survival, prepping, or whatever you want.Overall this is a very nice and well made knife. With it's beefy full tang blade it most definitely can handle all the bushcrafting task you could possibly want to throw at it. From batoning, fire making, carving, feather sticking, and even chopping if you felt the need to. I bet it could even handle really hardcore task like... cutting open an Amazon box! Yes, I seriously believe it could handle it. I have definitely really came to like this knife a lot and it is my current go to bushcraft knife. At only around $50 you can't go wrong with this awesome knife. I absolutely recommend you give it a try.

MVP
I have GOBS of knives; SOG, Benchmade, Kershaw, Gerber, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Cobratec, and many others. So, when I saw this HX Outdoors D-305B Fixed Blade Survival Knife with Fire Starter, I had to have it. I'm not sure what my affinity for knives is but I love 'em!The knife came in a plastic hard case that once opened you're greeted with a 9.5" knife in a hard plastic sheath that has a whistle and firestarter attached to it.The sheath enables the knife to be held ambidextrously, meaning you can place the knife into the sheath facing either direction. The sheath has a plethora of connections to enable you to attach it to nearly anything your heart desires; strapped nylon belt loop, hard loops for sideways mounting, and small strap openings for boot or leg mounting. The knife is a full-tang, meaning it goes down to the base of the handle. The blade has a high Hardness rating of 58 HRC, which is exceptional for the price of this knife. The rating is derived from the level of pressure that is required to dent the metal - the higher the number (58-60 HRC) the harder the steel is. The handle is made of a tough yet grippy rubber material that's well-shaped for gripping with your hand. Atop the blade towards the handle is a portion cut down to be used on the fire starter to help create a spark. The knife feels great in the hand and is sharp out of the box, the fire starter works great, the whistle is obnoxiously loud, and the sheath enables you to mount that knife any way you'd like. I'll just mention this, no matter how sharp a knife is out of the box I still spend a good amount of time honing and sharpening it to my liking before use.Overall, if you're looking for a great do-it-all camping knife, this is definitely one to consider putting at the top of your list. Truly, I'm not sure I know of another knife priced this low that's built this well with all the added features that this HX Outdoors D-305B has.

Well executed
This knife is everything you would need in an outdoor knife. The sheath, while it does have a plastic feel, is made well. Excellent retention on both the knife and the fire starter. The handle is extremely ergonomic although the rubber may cause some hot spots with heavy wood working. The blade came sharp and has a very thick spine. Oddly enough hx offers this model and a more premium one. I prefer this one.
