Botanical Drawing: A Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing Flowers, Vegetables, Fruit and other Plant Life

It’s so pretty and appealing to the eye. And the quality of the book itself is phenomenal, nice and thick cover with thick smooth pages, very durable. It takes you step by step through the drawings and shading. It has side notes with tips and tricks and explanations walking you through each drawing but also explaining it in a way you can use for other/future drawings! For the most part its pencil drawings and black and white but there are a FEW pages with color images, not many but i wasn’t wanting colored images so its exactly what i was hoping it would be!

I have to agree with others reviewing this book...if you are interested drawing botanical specimen, then this is by far the first book you should buy. The book is designed to take the artist step-by-step through a vast number of plants. The book is quite suitable for both beginners and these with a vast amount of knowledge and skill.I cannot recommend this book high enough.

I thought this book was good overall. I enjoyed reading through it and it has a lot of helpful information for people who are learning to draw plants.

Exactly what I was looking for. Loving the detail as I also do very detailed florals. Have been a florist for 30 years, only found two examples I did not like, the rest were pretty much spot on. Very helpful instructions, I think she did an excellent job.

Excellent examples of botanical drawings, shown step-by-step. This is for a beginner or and accomplished artist looking for other styles.

What a refreshing book on sketching flora. I have new insights and methods for drawing botanicals. It is worth the price.

Very good but just shy of great - especially considering the medium. The artist's work is excellent but it seems there could be a few more examples in the step by step. This is really geared toward technical botanical drawing. The artist uses a magnifying glass for detail listed in supplies. While I appreciate that attention to accuracy it is hard and/or tedious for those with vision issues.

The media could not be loaded. Ho acquistato questo libro un po' di tempo fa e dopo averlo sfogliato l'ho accantonato per dedicarmi all'acquerello, la mia passione più grande. Mi sono accorta però che per ottenere risultati migliori occorreva ritornare a uno studio approfondito del disegno a matita e così ho recuperato il libro che si è rivelato un'autentico tesoro e una miniera di consigli preziosi. Tra le sue pagine ho ritrovato quella voglia di disegnare che avevo non po' perso e che è la base si ogni buona riuscita. L'inglese è scorrevole (e poi con Google traduttore chi non lo traduce oggi? ) e sono molte e spiegate benissimo le lezioni step-by-step. Lo consiglio soprattutto agli appassionati di pittura botanica, lo considero un must have per i principianti. Assolutamente soddisfatta!
