Very serious accident happened.
I want to report a very serious accident that happened to me with your Telesteps Attic/loft ladder model T1000L.I bought it in March 2013 and used it about once a week.Last week in early November when I began to put the stairs away, the two vertical metal arms that hold the two powerful springs broke at the black plastic hinge area and the two vertical metal bars, the horizontal bar and the two springs flew through my bedroom hitting several walls and the ceiling, creating deep impact marks in the walls and ceiling. The fact that I didn't get hurt is a miracle, considering the power of the flying objects. I want you to know that if anyone like my 1 and 4 years old grand children at the time had been around with me when the ladder spring unit broke, it would have been a very serious injury, even death. My personal judgement is that it is not well manufactured. The fact that the two metal bars holding those powerful springs are held by an obvious weak plastic part is a poor choice in material by the builder, considering it was not an inexpensive ladder.I want to send what happened to the company Telesteps.net

As much as i loved this ladder
As much as i loved this ladder... it isn't easy to install it. It sure looks cool because i picked it for the fact that there wasn't a built-in frame. I wanted to do a custom frame and it came out amazing. Sturdy enough and compact. I don't like the mechanism they provided that attaches the ladder to the door, so i replaced it to something of my own. Never understand why companies fail to create proper instruction manuals or well made templates. That is mostly the only problem I've come across.

Recommended for DIY replacement.
Easy to install and use, but it still feels like a slightly unstable ladder. I bought it as a replacement for the cheap 20 year old builder's stair I had in my house destroyed by a 300 pound hvac guy. It will have to do. A really good stair installed by someone else would have cost 3-4 times as much.

Beware
There are two Telesteps companies. One in the US one in Sweden. This ladder is sold by the US company. The ladder is flimsy compared to the Swedish version, it does not contract simply. When folded up it does not lie flat against the door but is at about a 30 degree angle pointing to the ceiling. The installation instructions are poor. The company did send me additional photos to help with installation. This ladder is not the quality I wanted and is very expensive

Disgruntled
First one received the packaging had been around the world and had a broken plastic hinge. It was returned and received replacement 1 week later. So far so good .The packaging was still beaten up but not as bad as the first one. Lo and behold this one also had a broken hinge along with the 2 plastic pieces that go into the ladder ends where severely bent just waiting to fail. Trying for a third time. It does appear that Amazon warehouse just keeps shipping out the prior returns. I guess China hasn't figured out how to make a decent plastic or better yet make the failing pieces from aluminum. Although Amazon is standing behind this product at this rate one would think they they would be demanding a better product.
