XEN-TAN Luminous Gold Gel Weekly Tan, 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)

**im updating my previous good review because I went onto the EWG website and found some of the ingredients in this product are harmful. There was an old formula that was worse. The new formula isn't as bad, but it's not as good as EWG previously stated and this is no longer in their safe products list. Do your research.This stuff works better than expected after reading some of the reviews. I purchased it because of its EWG, Environmental Working Group, review. Out of all self tanners on the market, it was rated a 1 for low toxic ingredients to no toxic ingredients. So being so low toxic, I was surprised at how good it works. Yes, you must exfoliate and put skin lotion on before putting this product on. Especially since the tan actually can last more than a week (which I think is great), you need to make sure you don't have streaks for such a long time. I've never had a self tanner where the tan lasts this long. I love it. Also, I really like the gold sparkle on your skin after the first application. Some people said the sparkles are large and I don't find that the case at all, they are small and look really nice.. I thought. Also some people mentioned it feels sticky after application and I think they are really over-reacting. It isn't anymore sticky than putting aloe vera on your skin after being in the sun and that sticky feeling goes away pretty quickly, just like aloe. I highly recommend this product.

As someone who is nearly Albino ... well - not really - but I am extremely pale (my ancestors hail from the British Isles) and combined with the horror of having that pale skin and growing up in the swampland of Florida of all places, I was always searching for a way to look tan... despite the fact that my skin literally will never tan. I just go from burn back to pale again... When I tried this - it changed my life. Its the slightly glittery beautiful golden tan that looks natural AND somehow manages to also smell heavenly. What a treat! I've now been using for 8 years I think. I've lost count on which bottle that I'm on. I should probably order many more just to have them. Yes - its clear ... I really love this product. I feel like it makes me look younger .. and I generally skip makeup (aside from eyeliner) when I use it.

It just arrived yesterday, and I used it today. And the first thing I noticed was the very strong odor that a self-tanner usually has. If you decide to buy this, the Scent Secure or whatever that stuff is called is a must. That Scent Secure actually smells nice. I didn't put any on because I didn't have time before I left, but I will definitely make the time next time.The self-tanning so far is unnoticeable. But I didn't apply with the intent of tanning. I tried it out to see the sparkle and the smell. It flunks the stench test, but I do like the ever-so-light sparkle. I miss the old Xen-Tan Luxe Dark. That looked natural and had Scent Securr built into the formula. All these new formulas are too high-maintenance: Wash after 2 hrs for less color; wash after 4 hrs for more color; apply Scent Secure an hour after...blah-blah-blah. Whatever happened to apply AND GO!!!!

I bought this because the EWG site said it was safe. I think I need a darker formula but none of the other products from XEN are listed on there. :( Seems a little expensive for the amount of color that develops.

So far, so good. This product goes on smooth, is not too dark and the small is not overpowering. It seems to last longer than the other brand I was using-and contains fewer harmful chemicals.

Gives me an even summer glow. I am careful to use approximately (I don't measure) the same amount on both legs and I rub it in evenly. I always use this right after I shower, shave and moisturize so that I have the best chance for a smooth even look. I have fair skin and this gives me a summer glow. The glow lasts about a week. I also like that it got good marks from Skin Deep an environmental research group that rates skin care products based on how many harmful chemicals they contain (I don't want cancer from the sun or from the stuff I am rubbing into my skin).

i use this about every other or 3rd day, building up tan but notice it comes off on my towels after showers the next day.below is a pic that i’ve sprayed with stain removal product. hope it comes out.

AMAZING!!!! I am so happy I bought this instead of getting a spray tan that would turn orange. I put the body tanner on the day before my wedding, showered the day of the wedding and used the face tanner the day of. I found that one wash off the body was perfect. It gave me just enough color without looking fake or streaky! LOVE IT!
