Mil-TecARMY RIP STOP REGENPONCHO

TLDR: light, waterproof & multi-functional shelter. Good value.My partner and I started hammock camping recently, as we wild camp away from the car (gotta love the Scottish outdoor access code) we wanted to reduce the weight we had to carry. We ordered a pair of these Mil-Tec ponchos as they are multi-functional. We were quite impressed by them - they are light but fairly sturdy and kept the rain off in the night - we had a much better night's sleep than my friend who had borrowed one of our bivi bags. I suppose the Flecktarn also helps us keep a low profile. Overall we are chuffed with them, especially since they didn't break the bank.

Was looking for something more lightweight but it will make a good winter poncho and double up as a tarp or temporary shelter so it's multi-functional uses make it good value for money. Probably not much good for hunting as it's quite shiny and noisy, but as mentioned, will get plenty of other uses out of it no doubt.

This is perfect for me at 5'8'', just covering the knees, poppers on the sides to close you in completely or open for airflow, quality material. I'm over the Moon with this Poncho, I have brought cheap flimsy ones in the past, this isnt one of them!

This USA style waterproof poncho is lightweight and easy to carry. It does a great job of keeping you dry and easy to wear. It also has a number of uses.

I use a mobility scooter and walk my dog. I have worn this cape when pouring down and come home dry. I wish I'd got one sooner. It's over size so perfect even over a thick winter coat.

Popped it on during a thunderstorm downpour - over the head as fast as I could. Stopped me from getting absolutely soaked. Hung out to dry, with a good airing and no mouldiness. Does exactly what it says on the packet. Haven't tried it as a bivouac - I will leave that to more experienced people.

I spent whole day on training area under heavy rain and wind in this poncho and it was the day I stopped hating rain. Worth every penny spent!

I have heard allot of reviews on these poncho's, like being able to make shelters with them, so i decided to get one. It arrived within the week i ordered it despite bad weather and on opening I was very impressed. The poncho is huge which allowed me and my burgen to remain dry despite walking 3 miles in heavy rain. Only my lower half of my shines got wet which was not a big deal. The sides of the poncho are connected with 'pop buttons' which can be undone to create a large waterproof sheet mush like you're very own basha/tarp! This makes it useful to have at hand, especially for camping as it it light weight and can be worn or made into a shelter. it is easy to dry and clean. The only downfall with this product is that it did not feel very strong. Although the ripstop squires are noticeable the material is very thin and it would not surprise me it it would rip under strain. brilliant for camping but not very heavy duty. came in it's own draw string bag and available in a range of different camouflage.

This tarp poncho is even better than I hoped, and not at all too heavy for serious camping. And the ripstop nylon makes it strong enough to work as a hammock too, after I do a bit of rigging. The camo pattern/colour is very nice. When the shipping company messed up with Canadian customs forms, the Epic people quickly and graciously resolved the problem -- best customer service ever ! Mann muss nicht viel sagen.Wertig, Stabil und tut was er soll. Keine schlechten Nähte oder etwas in der Art. Kann kompakt gepackt werden. Er wiegt ca. 1kg, vergleichsweise viel, aber ab jetzt immer dabei.

This ponchos quality is great. I have Fox, Rothco and FireForce (great quality light) ponchos.If I’m thru hiking and trying to go Ultra Light I go w my high quality FireForce light weight poncho. It could be used as a tarp or poncho easily in the California portion of the trail.However, if I’m at our cabin up in Washington State which is a virtual rain force in winter I pull out this Mil-Tec beast poncho! For heavy constant rain, this beast does the trick. Unlike modern ponchos the inside seems to be rubberized. It is heavy, but, man the thing can shed water all day. Using it as a tarp, it is equal to any heavy duty tarp you can buy at Home Depot. It is true ripstop material. Also the color is a true dark pattern German Flecktarn perfect for Pacific NortWest, British Columbia, Sierra Nevada deep woods!Being an old Army Vet from the 80’s, this poncho about as close as you can get to the old heavy duty Army ponchos we were issued. Thankfully not quite as heavy in weight, but the material and water proofing just as strong. Also the snaps on the poncho can be used with a second one to make a huge 2 man pup tent. Or a 1 man 2 woman pup tent (ha ha, wishful).There are only a couple of negatives: 1) it’s strength of being the most heavy duty poncho on the market also makes it is heavy at 28oz 2) it is only 80” long. I am 5’9” (69”) so I just fit with a bit of overhang to hide out from the rain. But if I were over 6’2”+ might get a little tight for rain coverage. But, though about 5-10” shorter than other ponchos, on the plus size it sure won’t leak and seemingly could hold up to very heavy winds!!!!! Using it asymmetrically solves the coverage length issue.
