I don't know much about this product other than it being used in homemade beauty products. Hopefully I'll figure it out and it works.

Hello friends, I selected this optiphen preservative for homemade beauty products.It's my first time using this product so I'm trying to get the hang of the measurement but it does appear to have worked. The first time I made natural products they got moldy and these new ones with this product didn't. I don't know if I should be thrilled or concerned. Preservatives are so weird.

I make many different types of garden foliar sprays. One of the recent formulations contains substances that tend to grow fungus within about 20-30 days. I added this to a formulation, and at almost two months in, no fungus growth.

This is my second time using this for soapmaking. It's a bit more expensive here than what I paid elsewhere, so I'd suggest shopping around. That being said, once you do find it, get it -- it works exactly as advertised, and is great for preserving soaps especially if you're working with natural ingredients.

I have been using both Optiphen and Optiphen plus for a long time now in multiple different formulations such as lotions, serums and many more projects. This regular Optiphen can be used in oil-based (anhydrous) products. I have tried multiple other preservative types and these seem to work the best for me. I like that it is simple, works over a wide pH range and that it also provides some emollient benefits too. I usually do a usage rate of about 1-1.5% but sometimes it varies if I am using another preservative along with it. I have been having really great results pairing either Optiphen or Optiphen plus with epsilon polylysine. Optiphen has a nice, almost floral aroma so it doesn't smell bad like some of the other preservatives. This is great for beginners and for those looking for something that is paraben and formaldehyde free. This comes in a 4oz bottle which really does last a long time for personal formulating because you end up using so little of it.
