Not waterproof to 3 feet, let alone 33 feet.
Bought February 2024 direct from Gopro, primarily for snorkeling when on holidays so light usage several weeks of the year. Often problems with overheating which would eat the battery life and then the camera would switch off. Also the camera used battery life 1-2% per day even when switched off, so when I didn't use the camera for a few months in between trips I would have to recharge the battery. On the performance outside of this I recorded very similar footage at the same snorkel site of French angel fish in late 2022 with my old gopro lcd+ and in 2024 with this one. The colours and textures were more true-to-life on the old one with 1080 resolution. My older gopro, one issue was it was slow to download from camera to phone. I thought with a new camera and a new Samsung phone with plenty of memory space bought around the same time this process would be better. If anything it was worse. Downloading anything from camera to the phone took forever. It is supposed to work over a WiFi connection between phone and camera. This process also used a lot of battery so anything over two minutes of 4k footage, the camera would just give up and switch off without completing the download. Then the final straw. I always used with the gopro diving case even for shallow depths. Was out on a boat-trip a week ago, forgot the external case but figured, I can still use this to depth of 33 feet as advertised. This was in the Mediterranean sea snorkelling on the surface with a short floaty grip, so camera never in more than a few feet of water. The menu system started jumping around without me touching anything and then the camera shut down. I could see some condensation on the inside of one of the screens. When I got back to my hotel I did a test to take out the battery, put a bit of tissue in the compartment, closed up and immersed the camera fully in the sink. Checked and tissue was dry so the door was definitely closed. In my opinion there may be a design flaw that water is seeping in somewhere else, maybe through the microphone or the seals around the lcd screens, or maybe on the hinge side of the door? If you read other reviews here and elsewhere, others have had the same problem. Not everyone has had this issue so maybe there was a Quality issue with a batch of cameras made in second half of 2023? On the gopro warranty it says waterproof "as long as the door is closed properly" so if the waterproofing fails, essentially the user is blamed for not closing the door (to the compartment that holds the battery, the sd card and usb-charging port) properly if water damage occurs. Most warranties are only for a year but a camera this expensive should be expected to last for many years, especially with light usage.
