Second of this exact model to fail, despite meticulous care our end.
Terrible! I can't fault Morphy Richards team in that they promptly sent me a replacement for the first one which ruined a number of clothes due to brown water coming out of it - when I spoke to the Morphy Richards support team then (it was about 6 weeks old but we don't use it often) they told me it was due to the limescale in London water and sent me a new one. I was told by Morphy Richards never to use either, a, tap water in the iron nor b, ironing water from the shops (despite, you know, me thinking something sold as ironing water wouldn't do damage to the iron.) They specified to use de-ionised water which you'd use to top up the engine of the car, and so I've been paying for premium water to iron with since this was replaced. We only use this for shirts about once a fortnight - with one shirt worn a day, so about 8-10 shirts ironed a fortnight, and it now won't heat up at all, and the brown water is back. I'm going to go for a different brand.

Good value for money
This is a replacement for an identical looking Morphy Richards iron, which I had used for more years than I care to remember. Unfortunately, over time, the sole plate was worn out and not as smooth as it once was and therefore got this model as a replacement. The iron is one of the lightest currently being sold in the market and is ideal if all you are looking for is something that irons well without the added complication of "clever" functions. One useful feature it does have is the "No Drip" function. It does not have an "Anti-Scale" function, but then neither did my previous model and the steam output never degraded. The iron comes with an average 2m cord and the tank holds approximately 400ml of water. It also has a "Steam Shot" button for steam boost and also a water spray button for those suborn creases.Temperature is controlled via a simple turn knob which primarily has 3No settings; Silk/Nylon, Wool and Cotton/Linen.Overall good value for money if all you are looking for is a decent iron with the bells and whistle!

Nearly perfect.
I have 2 frozen shoulders ( 1 coming and the other going ) and so have had to buy a lot of new things to enable me to continue to do things. My old iron worked perfectly well, but was just too heavy. This weighs about half a kilo less which is about 1/3 lighter than my other which makes a lot of difference. I'm still struggling to iron but can manage enough to stop my husband having to do it ( very 50's housewife I know but I want to continue doing what I can and he's working full time ).It it well balanced and produces a decent amount of steam. The only niggle is the size of the hole to fill the water tank. It is tiny. They do provide a thingy with a small spout to make it a bit easier but it's still a bit of a pain and it also means having to twist it a lot further over to empty the water out, but this is really a minor niggle.I just hope it proves to be reliable. I'm just hoping it doesn't break down in a couple of years and I'm unable to replace it with the same. I can't face another trawl through other makes to find another one I like!

Powerful Steam that gives creases as good as a dry cleaner, if not better...
This iron replaced my old Morphy Richards iron. The manual steam button broke on my last Morphy Richards after less than two years, as did the Morphy Richards previous to that. However, this model appears to be of a better build than the last two and it gives an excellent, powerful, burst of steam when needed. Hopefully this iron will last a bit longer than the last two Morphy Richards models that I have had. To date, I am very happy with this iron as it can give excellent creases to trousers, as good as, if not better, than one gets from a dry cleaners. One word of warning though, be very careful when using spurts of steam as it is quite powerful. I highly recommend this iron as, like other Morphy Richards irons that I have gad, it does the job well and the extra steam button on this one does appear to be of a much better build.

Good riddance.
Today this iron of mine broke and no longer works. I bought it just over a year ago. I was ironing this morning when all of a sudden the iron got so hot it scorched the trousers I was ironing and the black cloth caught on the iron's plate. The iron became hotter and hotter then cooled down and stopped working. I never liked it, the electric cables inside the casing showed through after a couple of months and had to be taped over. I didn't like the fact you couldn't see the water level when filling the iron because the plastic water holder was a dark purple - I had to shake it to see where the water level was at whilst ironing. In addition I never found it comfortable or easy to iron with, it wasn't wide enough or heavy enough. I'm quite glad it's only lasted a year so I can buy another one.

Iron caught fire ! Potentially very dangerous design.
The iron started smoking then sparking while in use. Quickly unplugged it before it could burst into flames. Lucky I hadn't left it unattended or could have had a house fire. This iron was listed as having a 3 year guarantee. Morphy Richards say it was only a one year guarantee unless you register - really unhelpful. Amazon have agreed to refund however.

The steam is working great so far and I've no problems ironing cotton shirts ...
For 20 quid it's hard to fault this iron. We had our previous Breville for more than 10 years and the base had become stained and the steam had stopped working, probably due to the limescale in our area. This one is showing a lot of promise. The base is a darker colour than the one it's replaced, not sure what the material is. The steam is working great so far and I've no problems ironing cotton shirts that have dried out completely after washing. The manufacturer recommends using distilled water with the iron but I'm sure that you, like me, don't have that on hand so I use hard tap water. They recommend emptying the iron out after each use which is what I'm doing and hopefully that'll help to avoid scale.Minus 1 mark for supplying a filling jug with a spout larger than the hole it's supposed to fit into. Doh!
