So helpful! Give this a try before giving up
I am writing an entirely new review in light of some personal discoveries I've had using this foot. Obviously some materials are easier to handle than others. And then you have sheers. I've had no issues whatsoever with cottons and such So I'll cut right to the elephant in the room. How to successfully roll hem your sheer fabric WITH MINIMUM Fuss! I mean it, no pins, pre folds or anything. All you will need is a two inch piece of tissue paper. you can use more throughout the length as well too if you'd like but l only use it to make sure my ends don't get chewed down in the feeds.Line up the edge of your paper with the right side of foot and make about 4 stitches.. This will give you a good tail to help guide the top of your fabric through later.Keep the needle down and lift presser foot. Using A CLEAN CUT fabric gently guide it under the foot and upward towards the roof of the groove. When it touches the roof nudge the fabric over from the left to encourage it to feed into the groove entirely. It's important that you make sure you see the fabric nearest the needle is feeding properly too not just the fabric closest to you. PLEASE SEE MY ATTACHED PIC OF HOW MY SETUP LOOKS BEFORE I BEGIN. Use a pin or tool to help ease the fabric into that corner if necessary. This should be as close to the start of your fabric as possible. THE FABRIC SHOULD NOW BE TOUCHING THE FURTHEST EDGE OF THE GROOVE. THIS is what will make this foot fold it. If your fabric fails to do this you will get an inconsistent hem! Once set put the presser foot back down.Slowly place a few stitches down using one hand to hold the thread tails and the other to keep the outer fabric folded into the groove. For the best results MAKE SURE THE FABRIC CONTINUES TO STAY ALIGNED WITH THE FURTHEST EDGE OF THE GROOVE FOR A PROPER FOLD. If YOU have to fold the garment you are not using the foot right. I figured this out after mistakenly thinking I needed to help it fold as I sewed. Not so! Defeats the purpose. Anyway you can backstitch now using the lowest stitch length a few stitches then going back to your normal length and proceeding.Continue sewing and KEEPING THE FABRIC PULLED TO THE EDGE OF GROOVE. I can't stress this enough. Do this to the end. You should end up with a neat and narrow hem.Happy narrow hemming! Please take notice that this is a NARROW hem foot.. See pic. If you are looking to hem heavier garments and/or wider hems you need to get a WIDE HEM FOOT.. I recommend just buying a set, it's more bang for your buck and you have more options. Perfection!!!
What a wonderful, efficient, accurate, easy to use tool to get a perfect seam. I have others but this one is the best by far. You can get an exact 1/4 of an inch, or any other measurements without any effort. The results are very rewarding. Thank you so very much!!!

Tape Binding Foot
Before buying this presser foot, I always sewed my bias binding the old-fashioned couture way, where you sew one side of the binding first, then flip it over and hand-sew the other side (using a slipstitch) so the stitching is completely invisible. That's still my preferred method, but not all of my students have the patience to bind that way. One of my students purchased this foot and let me try it out, and I was quite impressed. Yes, your stitches show. But it reduces the time and energy needed to attach the binding, because instead of sewing, then flipping, pressing, and sewing again, you're attaching the binding in one easy step. The binding foot may look complicated, but it's really quite simple to use. It's designed to fit a low-shank sewing machine, so it clips on, easy-peasy, although I would suggest inserting your fabric and binding first, before attaching the foot to your machine. The included directions were worthless; I threw them out and watched an online tutorial to learn how it works. It's easier to insert the binding if it's cut straight, instead of diagonally. The foot is completely adjustable, so you can sew any size binding you want, from extremely narrow to extremely wide. After inserting your binding, turn the thumbscrew to slide the bar until it's flush against the binding. Use your fingers to spread the plastic part a little, so you can sandwich your fabric into the gap, then pull the fabric and binding forward, so it's visible in the eye of the foot. On my first attempt, I wasn't careful and so the binding slipped away from the fabric. This is easy to prevent: sew slowly, keeping an eye on everything, and adjust the layers as necessary to keep everything aligned. It gets easier with practice.I will probably stick with the couture method of binding when I sew for myself, since I dislike seeing a seam on my bias binding, but I will keep this foot on hand for my students to use. And I will definitely pull it out when I have occasion to bind something where it doesn't matter if the stitches show. Five stars and highly recommended!

Worked Flawlessly on my Brother LB6800THRD
► Why I like it:Plain and simple, it makes a tedious task into a piece of cake! I cannot imagine trying to do piping without using such a presser foot. I chose this one over others because it can do either one or two, not just the single piping that others provide. Piping adds that special extra touch. I bought mine before I needed it so that when I do, I will be ready for it. Nothing worse than wishing you had it for the job at hand.► Settings:Stitch width is suggested to be 0 with length at 1-3. Be sure to use the straight stitch in the CENTER position, otherwise, you will break your needle.► Pros:Makes a difficult job into a breeze! This particular presser foot will do either single or double piping which makes it a better buy than just the single piping presser feet. Instructions are written inside the packaging.► Cons:None found.► Suggestions for Improvement:None.► Would I buy again?Yes. Worth having in your arsenal of presser feet.► Purchasing Decision & Questions:I hope I have helped your purchasing decision of this Distinctive Piping Sewing Machine Presser Foot. Took a while to work out if I had a low or high shank machine - got there in the end and the foot fits both my machines.
