works great odd controls
Works quiet but when it's on there's no light to let you know it's on. I would think it should display the temp. There is 2 blue lines when it's off and that sure seems backwards to me. Also, the back panel gets really hot so don't buy this if you want to use it like a base board heater tight to the wall. I don't care about the flame display so I just turned it around and the display is a good insulator against the wall and works great.

A very attractive unit
This is a handsome looking heater with an impressively natural, genuine looking and attractive flame display. It's well made and operates silently, with a heavy duty, (black) power cord that is permanently attached. All heat is radiated convectively out of the unit's top grid, not forward from the "flames". There is no fan. The only color choice is black, so that must work with your decor. We've found only two drawbacks: first that the included "instruction manual" contains mostly safety warnings, but little actual information on how the unit is designed to work, so we've had to figure that out for ourselves. This is complicated by the display's operation not being fully intuitive, plus that it 'times out' and goes dark after a few minutes of inactivity. Second, there is no "pilot" or display light to indicate when the unit is actively heating, so as the thermostat cycles on and off, there is no way to tell which state it's in. This makes the heater ivery unobtrusive, but since the flame display stays either off or on according to its own setting, it remains a mystery whether the unit is heating or not at any given moment - or whether it's even on when the flame display is turned off.Otherwise the unit works nicely, with a small infrared remote that controls all functions, in addition to a set of buttons on the top panel.. Turning the unit's power off kills both the heat and the flame display simultaneously, and the previous settings are retained as long as it remains plugged in. Pretty good, even though the controls and the display's operation could be less confusing.

Efficient Heater with Nice Visual Effects
With winter fast approaching, having a modern heater seemed a good choice. This heater weights about 11 pounds and has handles on its sides, making it easy to carry. It has a thick cable for it to handle a load of up to 1500 watts. My meter readings did not surpass 1450 watts and 12 amps at the highest 99F setting. There is no internal fan, so it is very quiet. Having tile floors makes me at ease using an electrical heater. With the remote (Two AAA batteries are required) you can control temperatures, timer (up to 12hrs) and the flame on/off effect. I will add some fireplace sounds from my speaker to add an immersive effect during nights!

Rather sketchy & not useful
This unit does not appeat to have UL verification. It is unclear if, at all it has any electrical certification whatsoever. It does have an appropriate heavier duty chord but a standard type plug (not likely to actually contain safety protocols for overheating @ the plug which is where many fires start.)This is an attractive unit & moderately well built but elements of cheap materials-lack of safety technology in plug, remote is very cheap plastic w/rudimentary buttons & unreadable text. The outer shell seems ok & handles on the ends useful for lifting. The fake flame is alright but onlt one option & looks kinda hokey. The unit is very, very low w/NO heat coming out the front or back-don't expect this warm tile floor at all...cats & dogs will not be huge fans! The heat comes from vents atop that are 3/5th of the ceiling facing side-towards the upper facing rear of the unit. There is no sound. The heating is radient w/no fan. I like this aspect. Heat rises. This unit is very low & heat is a good distance down so it doesn't feel hot...but on some settings, is barely noticable. The directions are lacking. No clear explanation of operation but this is not rocket science to operate. They should improve the info sent w/product as I find the info lacking despite easily being able to operate this heater.I find this heater a bit sketchy as I have now used it about 3 times. I have a large home w/3 levels & excellent high efficiency, top of the line gas furnace but areas near large banks of windows or sliding glass doors or valted ceilings makes those areas feel cold. Hence, I bought this for use in a smaller confined area. **PLEASE NOTE this small space heater won't be useful in a large area. Best use, in my thoughts are a small room, bathroom or standard sized bed room. I am not sure this will adequately heat a living rm, wreck rm or family rm much....you'd need a larger, more effecient device.I only used this a couple of times & am unsure about it. I have temperature & humidity guages in every rm plus can see temperatures from the whole home HVAC system. I do KNOW what the actual temperature is inside the room. SO, when I have used it, I purposefully tried different settings. This does heat but efficiency is in question in my mind. I know the room I have this in is a stable 66° as confirmed by 2 thermostat. If I set this heater to 75° that is a huge difference & should, not only make the unit heat (as the room is way under that temp) or the heat ought to stay on at least, until the room reaches the tempurature goal of 74°. This unit will initially heat some & turn off-unit shuts down as if it reached the goal temp of 74°. That means the sensor is off kilter or it just doesn't heat well. Either way, the room never rises even to 69° let alone 74° before the unit shuts down. This unit appears to be functioning fine initially & it does produce heat. So, I just am unclear if this is worth it on many levels..I do like aspects of this heater. The fact it throws the heat up is ok. Animals & feet won'rbenefit from it. If you are sitting in front of it, you don't feel much heat. The idea of this silent radiant heater is convection-heat rising. So as the room warms, the heat should be felt. That is not an instant thing. How you use it & what you want for heat may determine how happy you'll feel w/it.One thing bothers me on reviews here-Many are not people who paid for the actual product. My review here is real based on actually spending $$ on it. I am not sure if I will return it...may not be worth the cost. I hoped it would be...wanted to love this.

Compact, heats well, touch controls are on top where pets can reset them
This is a very nice radiator type heater and the optional flames are a nice touch. It's not wobbly at all (a plus, as I've had others that can easily be tipped by running kids or pets) and I like that it's black, not white or beige like so many used to be. It also has a timer, which is great for me. I don't really like that the controls are on a perfectly flat panel on the top. I definitely anticipate my cats will turn this on or off, so I will be sure to unplug it when I leave the house. It would have been a bit safer for them to be under a flip panel, or on the front. However, if you don't have kids or pets, it will be very convenient for you to have them where you can see them and where they are easy to touch.
