understandable and is truly a fine guide to laying out and sticking with a sound ...
I read this marvelous book twice. As the husband of a busy executive, I read chapter by chapter and reported the synopsis to my busy wife who was working at her computer in the office! Within a few days we were at our Fidelity office making changes to our investment plan and now have a clear picture of where we are going with our investments. This book is readable, understandable and is truly a fine guide to laying out and sticking with a sound investment strategy for life. I wish I had read this book 20 years ago. This is a course in investing that I'm glad I didn't miss. Now I'm looking for companies to hold for a lifetime, and those attractive value and growth stocks. We've got 4 grandchildren and we will be opening up 529 college plans for each. Don't miss this book.

Book condition was very good
I wanted to understand more about this subject....actually thought I should know more about it, well, it's not of great interest to me regardless of what I said at the beginning of this so it's a difficult read for me. The list in the back of terms and their meanings was a help.

I wish this had been written 25 years ago
I just finished this incredible book and am inspired to begin my investment journey right away. Reading the book was akin to sitting at Ms. Tengler's kitchen table and listening as she shares her own successful step-by-step approach to smart investing, and throws in a homespun yarn every now and then to get her point across. Don't be discouraged if the material gets a little intense. The author describes and suggests strategies for both those who want to dive into the complexities as well as those who would rather begin on a more simple path. Whatever you decide, read this book and get started!

This book is a clear and concise guide to finance ...
This book is a clear and concise guide to finance and investing for the long term. It stays with the 'get rich slowly' type of advice which takes a long view of a person's financial life and makes observations which are helpful for women and for couples who are trying to plan out their finances together. An ideal book for those who need a warm, friendly voice to ease them into the often icy waters of finance.

open communication with him and recommended he purchase the book to give to another widow ...
Reinforced the need for all women, especially, widows, or single females in retirement years, to become responsible for their financial decisions. I took the book and my personal insights to my financial advisor as he is part of my "Team or Support network". I was able to open a more respected, open communication with him and recommended he purchase the book to give to another widow who finds herself exploring and growing in new avenues.
