This makes the Hole Pro kit complete! It's good to be able to use any (most) hole saws with the dust bowl. It works as advertised.

perfect dust shield for hole saws
In the past I have used 2 liter plastic soda bottles cut in half and even a $20 thing that looks like a salad bowl that I bought from a local electrical supply house. They kept most of the gypsum dust from the sheetrock or plaster out of my eyes but the dust still went all over the place from the spinning hole saw. Starrett sells what they call a cowl kit and at $170 it is very well made but seemed overpriced. The Hole Pro adjustable hole cutters are fantastic for large can light holes in most cases but sometimes I need to cut a deeper hole or cut a hole in ceramic tile and I need to use a hole saw or carbide grit hole cutter and wanted a smaller shield than the 11 inch diameter one with my X-230 hole cutter.Happy to buy one of their XL shields and arbor adapters to have a perfect solution for hole cutting with these other hole cutters. I can use any standard thread mounting hole cutter and the shield not only catches 100% of the dust, it keeps the hole saw going in straight and level. In many cases I do not know what is behind a ceiling and that includes rodent droppings and possibly wiring or plumbing but I hope I don't hit anything as I am going in blind. It does not happen very often but when it does it can be expensive to fix. With the XL shield I can limit how deep the hole cut is so I can stop at 3/4" and limit any possible damage.
