These are probably the best map mats you can buy for RPGs. Just be careful to only use wet erase markers! Someone wrote on one of mine with a dry-erase marker and it never quite erased, even with 95% IPA. These are also the largest you can get. Squares on one side for mapping and indoor tactics and hex on the back for large-scale, outdoor mapping. I have 2 - one for each campaign I’m in. They are thick and tough. Definitely recommend.

I've been using these mats since the 90s. Here's what you need to know:1) Expo Green and Black markers come off easily after a week of leaving them on2) Staedler Blue and Green markers also come off easily after a week of leaving them on3) Do NOT use red markers, they stain in mere moments and while they'll fade over time, you'll always see them if you look4) Do NOT use an abrasive or aggressive cleaner or rubbing tool; these mats use a coating to maintain their wet erasiveness; once the coating is dissolved it ceases to be wet eraseable5) NEVER, EVER use dry erasePictures are my current, 20 year old mat where I've learned a lot of these lessons the hard way. The first close up was my attempt at cleaning up a red stain with a cleaner, which faded the lines, didn't even remove the stain, and now that area doesn't erase properly. The second is a test red mark I made for this review, which after only 1 hour (a very reasonable time for a single gaming scene) refuses to come up with any amount of effort

Exactly the durability and design I was looking for!!

It's a great item but it doesn't clear very well after you use dry erase markers. Slight stains with each use But we have killed some great monsters on it.

Love this battlemap! It may be huge but I'm not complaining about that. When you unroll it, it lays flat immediately unlike other dry ease mats that come with plastic edge things that hold it flat. The nice thing about having the one that is just one plain background is that you don't have to switch maps all the time to fit the background. DND and other rpgs are about imagination, so let's keep it that way please. Highly recommend 13/12 rating

Much better than the laminated paper mat by the competition. Nice and thick and won’t separate.

Arrived quickly, and as expected. Roll arrived slightly flattened but leaving it flat under a rug for a couple days (then rolling on a tube) did the trick.
