Impressive
It’s got to be the heaviest well-made, mortar and pedestal. I’ve ever had it grinds up everything. I’m so glad I purchased this one because their cells and some of them and you will be too sturdy. I’ve dropped it and it didn’t even break it, though I ain’t gonna lie.

LOVELY TO USE AND TO LOOK AT!
I bought this natural granite mortar & pestle as a gift for my "chef-y" husband. He loves having it on hand to grind his own spices. When not in use...it makes a beautiful statement piece on a counter or shelf in your kitchen. Well made, very heavy and I felt like a great value.

It's a large granite mortar and pistel
According to my scale the mortar (the bowl part) is 2331g or just over 5 pounds and it holds 436g of water or just over 15 ounces - not quite the 2 cups advertised but close enough for me.Comes with just the tool - no text that would give hints on cleaning or how to "season" it.Very solid feeling. Easy to clean. Smooth button but I am sure it would scratch a glass or plastic surface - I set it on a grippy silicone mat.The Kota Japan name is clearly misleading - this is an Arizona based company and the tool is clearly labeled as being made in China.

Works like I wanted!
This stone mortar is great! Way easier to use compared to the wood one I had prior.

Anice piece to have.
Needs to be cleaned well, for food prep. That being said, I bought mine for other purposes, to grind minerals to a fine powder.
