Spend a good portion of my afternoon trying to make this work with my small sailboat. After a good bit of dicking around I went back to my electric motor. I am by no means a novice to small enginesIt would start and run fine for a bit and then cut out and need to be primed again. It seems like it’s a poorly adjusted carburetor. I checked all the fuel lines And followed the directions the best I could for the broken English.. I also used 93 octane gasoline. Either I just got a bad copy that was missed during quality control or it’s a poorly designed engine.The company contacted me to help resolve what we now think is a defunct carburetor. My rating now reflects that.

I purchased the 4hp air cooled unit. Installed on my 12' kayak. Works well, however, the unit is underpowered. Probably more like 2hp. Also, there was no S/N stamped on the motor. I contacted the manufacturer to see if I was over looking it. They confirmed that it is not stamped on the motor. Other than that, everything is as advertised and starts on the first pull.

I was initially unimpressed when the spring in the starter broke in the first pull. Seller would not replace the part.I got it fixed and started, but it is pretty underwhelming. I had it out next to another 4hp motor and this one is at least half the power.Not to mention the gas cap vent can’t be closed (fuel everywhere when transporting or tilting)I will say, it works reliably once you get it started, which isn’t always the easiest task.

Impressed. Was given as a gift. Oil and gas correctly. Break motor in your shop etc. Before you use in boat. One zirk fitting to grease. And propeller needs. 4-1 oil. Dont over fill oil. Has dip stick screw on cap. And im impressed. For the price

Do not buy this motor! It is noisy, bellows smoke, leaks gas and oil, and after use 3 times, the propeller wouldn’t engage consistently while in gear. When switching it out of idle, it would stall. The seller has not compensated or replaced.

Beware! 3rd party merchant will send you a motor that does not even turn on...then have you have $80 to return because this 3rd party does not offer prepaid return labels.
