Excellent Performance and Value for Money
Although not particularly knowledgeable about binoculars I am someone who researches thoroughly when making a significant purchase.I wanted to replace several pairs of compact binoculars that just knock around the house and invest in a really decent pair for bird watching both in my own heavily wooded gardens and also the more open rural surroundings locally. Despite higher magnification lenses being available, my enquiries told me that 8 x 42 is a well regarded formula for my purposes and has less risk of 'shake' than the higher powered 10x.Having set a budget of up to £200 there seemed to be a mind boggling amount of choice and of course reviews can become very technical on the one hand and subjective on the other. Previous online reviews across the internet lead me to this make and model and I have to say I couldn't be more pleased even though I purchased through Amazon without being able to try them out first.Tested over this week in varying lights but dry conditions, both me (short sight, sometime spectacle wearer) and my other half (long sighted) are extremely pleased with the clear, sharp and vibrant views through these binoculars. We've varied between watching water birds on their nests amongst the reeds, to looking across country at the village 2½ miles distant. This evening while lamps are on in the house, I've looked through the windows at a Great Spotted Woodpecker on the side of the bird bath. I've seen a much clearer picture of him than ever before and so much more detail. The binoculars are weighty but comfortable to wear with the padded neck strap and are well balanced and feel good to grip. The weight is backed up by a quality product which performs extremely well. The only negative I've found is also highlighted by others and that is the loose fit of the separate lens caps which drop down at the front, but which should stay attached. Despite having read warnings about this feature, I lost one yesterday and had to retrace our steps to locate it: luckily it was found and still in perfect condition, but this is a minor point to be aware of.In a nutshell we are both very impressed by the build quality and value for money, not to mention the lifetime guarantee (a rare thing indeed) which reviewers seem to agree is honoured with great customer service. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Vortex Diamond 8x42s as a sound purchase at an excellent price point.

Amazing product and even better customer service!!
As a wildlife tour guide specialising in the very rare White-tailed Eagle, it is very important to have a set of binoculars that are robust, clear and comfortable to use. I was a little unsure as to how they would perform but based on the great reviews I took a punt. All I can say is WOW! I LOVE them! So clear and the 8x42 really gives a wide angle but very steady and clear image. They also work great in low light.I recently lost some of the lens caps and also dropped the binoculars damaging the eye piece, The Vortex customer service has been nothing short of amazing replacing parts and fixing my issues without any hesitation.Brilliant, fantastic, awesome does not even come close!

Stunning Quality
I am based most the time in South Africa, and when my last binoculars broke (Olympus 8x42) I decided to upgrade. In the bush, I get to see and test many different brands, sizes etc and when I came across these a few months ago, the quality was incredible. I decided on the 10x50 as I often use them in low light situations, but I also do a lot on foot so bought the harness they can attach to. The weight is slightly more than the 8 x 42's but not so much that it makes a difference with the harness, on the neck strap I think you might notice more.Vortex are a make I have seen tested in the bush, and seem quite rugged, but the lifelong warranty that covers literally everything (including you dropping them) is a major plus. There are cheaper binoculars on the market, and you can absolutely see the difference, the quality of these is exceptional. There are also more expensive, but I would not be able to tell where the extra money was going without really paying attention. These are a fantastic all round model, and for the price they are a bargain.

Great set of bins for general use.
I am not a twitcher, a hiker, a hunter or an astronomer so I did not buy these bins for any special reason other than a fascination for seeing things close up. I have taken them for walks on the beach, I have used them for plane-spotting and as soon as we get a good view of the moon I will certainly take a gander there too.I read and watched the reviews of scores of binoculars because £167 is not a sum I would normally pay for something that is just a treat for myself. Just about everything pointed me in the direction of these bins and when they arrived I was not disappointed. They are well protected, they are comfortable to use, they are quick to adjust and they give a good sharp focused image. If you want a good, general-use pair of bins (with a lifetime warranty btw) then I can highly recommend these.

Nice bins, optics very clear and crisp
Nice bins , optics very clear and crisp , strap comfy .Case ok too but case strap is a bit thin and not as good as bino's strap, a bit pricey as I reserched the makers and are American but was disappointed to see made in China stamped on product !!

Awesome kit!
Bit of a horlix with the delivery, but sorted eventuallyThe binoculars these replaced are “only” 10 years old, and perfectly serviceable. Well I thought so until I looked through these. Clarity and definition are staggering! Much easier to hold steady and the recesses for thumbs help. Chest rig that they came with is more than adequate, and the straps easily fit under my pack. Lens covers are well thought out, and don’t appear to want to drop off easily, but time will tell.Glad that I invested in them, as deer are easier to spot in cover and wildlife generally is easier to notice and identify. Great kit all round

Superb binoculars
These binoculars more than met expectations, real value for money, they feel very solid in your hand and the rubberised coating gives great grip.the optics are clear and crisp with great depth and are equally good at distance as they are close up,the only small niggle is the lenses covers fall off far too easily and have lost both of mine already, within days which is a shame.the binoculars also come with a expensive looking hard case, perfect for travel, also a neck strap,I would highly recommend this product.
