You need this book! For years I would recommend Nigel Calder’s book for my clients I train on boating, but this is now the gold standard! I have used Starpath courses for years. David Burch’s level of knowledge is remarkable and his writing style is easy to consume. This book is an absolute MUST now that all paper charts have been sunsetted. Every Chartplotter on every boat is based on the Electronic Navigstion Charts (ENC)—time to get busy studying the differences between the paper charts and raster chart symbology we all “grew up with” on the water. The symbols are different, but the process to query all the additional data available in your ENC is essential to know for prudent navigation and watchstanding.
