Excellent product and not just for tattoos!!
I just got my 9th tattoo done about 5 days ago and didn’t want to spend almost $15 on Aquaphor. I searched for tattoo balms here on amazon and came across a few products, this one included. I’ve never heard of this product before but the reviews were great and the price per ounce was excellent, especially compared to the well known tattoo products.I received this product on January 20, 2020. It came in a cool box and the product itself it in a round tin container with nice graphics on it. I opened the tin and tried the balm on my new tattoo, which is dry and scaly at this point of the healing process. There is hardly any scent at all and the consistency is silky smooth. It made my tattoo feel immediately less irritated as well as soothed. The dryness was gone and it felt amazing.I’ve been using it for only 3 days and it works so well that I also started using it on my dry hands! The winter weather makes my hands dry and rough and this product softened it. I also use it as a cuticle balm for my fingernail cuticles that also get dry in the winter and lead to hangnails that are painful. This product softened them as well!! Not only is my tattoo healing better (see pic), but my hands and cuticles are softer!I highly recommend this dual purpose tattoo balm. It’s an amazing product and the value is excellent. I like it better than aquaphor and A & D ointment , which I normally use for my tattoos during healing. It’s cheaper and works so much better.I’m so glad I came across this product. Thanks for making this!!

This stuff works great for making tattoos pop!
I have been using this tattoo balm for years and it’s been working very well. Any time I am going out somewhere and wearing short sleeve shirts or tank tops, I put a thin coating of this on my half-sleeve tattoo to make the colors just a little more vibrant (although it’s kind of hard to tell in my before and after photos). A little bit if this goes a long way so I don’t apply much, but it works well and doesn’t leave my skin feeling too oily. I recommend this balm for anyone who has tattoos and wants them to look brighter or more defined.I haven’t used this balm before getting a tattoo or for aftercare so I can speak to how well it would have worked during the healing process but I’m sure it would have been helpful if I had been using it at that time.My only gripe is that they changed the container from the taller style to an almost flat style container. The new container is extremely hard to grip for opening it because it’s so thin. Once I finally got it opened, I made it a point to not put the lid back on too tight. I hope they switch back to the original container in the future but I still love the product for what it is and give it 5 stars with an asterisk that the new container was the wrong choice.

Top pick of the 4 products I tested
I’ve got a few tattoos. I recently spent a day getting quite a bit of work done to finish my sleeve. I actually had to travel out of state to see my artist after he moved, and I didn’t think to bring anything with me after the session other than the traditional Aquafor.A couple of the new tattoos ended up being pretty dry. Colorado is a semi-desert and it’s been nothing but fires this summer. I can’t remember the last time it rained... needless to say, my skin was incredibly dry. Aquafor is petroleum-based and seems to sit on the surface of my skin and just makes things greasy.I decided to try out several different products to see how well my skin and new ink responded. Of all of these, the Viking Revolution was by far my favorite. I’ve used their beard oil before and I like that product too.Compared to the other products, the Viking Revolution1. Goes on really smoothly2. Is hydrating and moisturizing3. Has a light and pleasant smellI compared this product to Tattoo Goo and Mad Rabbit Tattoo Aid. I’d say that this product is very similar to Tattoo Goo. In comparison to Mad Rabbit, this product doesn’t last as long and doesn’t penetrate as well, however it is much smoother and smells much much better.I plan on using this product to hydrate my tattoos in the future. I really like how well it works and smells and it is easy enough to keep on my bedside table or pack on a flight.

Great product, crappy packaging
Absolutely love this stuff. The only reason it isn't a 5 star is because who in the everloving FRICK decided to change the canister it comes in???? It used to be a really nice size almost an inch tall, easy to grip and twist open. Now they send it in one that's flat as a freaking pancake and SO hard to open. Good luck trying to grip the sides to perform any kind of twist to get it the damn thing to open. Which is increasingly frustrating if you have a dry tattoo demanding more balm and you are sweating and cursing trying to pry this open like a stubborn oyster.I am a return customer and will continue to be a return customer.....but like damn guys, don't make it this hard.

Just buy it
With many balms/moisturizers/ointments, after a few hours you typically notice the skin feels dry, mildly irritated and a little “tight” after the product has worn off. With this, you go hours and that feeling never comes most of the time. You’ll just be sitting around like “oh yea, probably about time to add more balm”. With some of these other products, your skin will remind you because it’ll be irritated and dry. With this I’ve noticed, even when it’s worn off, it’s still a thin layer resting and absorbed into the skin which is why that dry feeling doesn’t always come. I have gotten that dry feeling with this once or twice, but with others it would be every time. It has an ever so slight greasy feel to it, but it’s very slight unless you’re just slapping on too much. It has no scent beside the natural scent of the oils and butters. Could you find better than this if you searched hard enough? Maybe! Is better than this even necessary? Absolutely not. It does the job and it’s a fair price. That 2oz jar lasts. Little goes a long way.
