My unbias and honest review of the KastKing Cutthroat 7" Split Ring Nose Fishing Pliers with actual weeks of abuse in fresh and salt water.Short story: Great pliers at an amazing price! Highly recommended for any fishermen or fisherwoman! Makes split rings quick and simple. Cut, crimp, and basically all you need to deal with any fishing accessory! 5 STARS!Long Story:As a beginner fisherman, I quickly found the need for quality pliers to remove hooks and to cut line. As I looked for the cheapest functional fishing pliers, I stumble upon the KastKing Cutthroat 7" Split Ring Nose Fishing Pliers. After reading all of the raving reviews, I knew I had to try these out.When the package arrived, I had acciddentally ordered two which was quickly and easily fixed with a fast refund. Before returning the extra plier, I was able to compare product quality and found both builds to be very consistent and solid. My only remark would be the quality of the box. It was crumpled in all corners, but the plastic frame was functional and held the plier securely. A nice little case would have been nice, but it is understandable for this amazing price.on the first day of use, I caught my personal best bass and under all of the excitement, I quickly remove the hook and try to put away the pliers with the bass flopping around still. I grip the pliers and snip a sliver of my fingerpad... ouch! Hey, now I know it definitely can snip! These pliers do not have an guard for your finger, so do be careful!Ever since then, I have never had any issues after weeks of fishing fresh and salt water. I love the bright orange to quickly spot the pliers when they are not on me.Note: I tried to work split rings without the pliers and it was obvious that these pliers are extremely useful especially if you use a lot of hard lures.Over the weeks, I have made only two adjustment. While mounted on the hip, the pliers tend to flip upsidedown and fall out. So, I forced an indent between the grips on the holster for a stronger resistance of plier removal. Secondly, I have replaced the carabiner with a hair tie since the carabiner is of the lowest quality and poor design. Areas for improvement would be the plastic swivel on the holster since it flips to easy, add a physical feature to prevent the pliers from accidentally falling out, and to get a better quality carbiner.Of all these minor comments, these pliers still stand out as one of the most effective pliers at one of the most affordable prices! I highly recommend KastKing's Cutthroat 7" Split Ring Nose Fishing Pliers at 5 out of 5 stars!P.S. Pliers are strong and easy to use. They're comfortable in the hand and not too big to carry with you. The sheath is ok. I played with it for a while to see if there was a way to lock it in place but couldn't figure it out. I'm used to handgun holsters that rotate, but a plier sheath rotating (and not locking) seems strange. Hopefully I'm just dumb, but if the sheath is meant to spin around and not stay in one spot then I see that as a defect. I've had my pliers fall out of the sheath a few times because it spins around and faces upside down & drops. I don't lose them because of the cord, but if I'm moving around enough to have the sheath spin and drop the pliers, then I probably don't have a lot of time to be grabbing my pliers to readjust the sheath. Again, the pliers are great, the sheath just bugs me. I just set them on the ground next to me while I'm fishing because I'd rather have to grab them off the ground than scramble to pull up pliers that are hanging from the sheath.

I bought these pliers for a Canadian Fly-in fishing trip. They worked GREAT. They are well made, fit nicely in my hand and besides having a line cutter, they can also be used as a split ring tool. At first, I thought the pliers did not close tightly. Upon further inspection, the line cutter was holding them open ever so slightly. I believe this is by design. If you press a little harder the pliers close nicely and you can grip fishing line etc. I used the cutter a few times and it worked just fine. I did use the split ring function to replace a treble hook on my favorite lure. In just a few minutes the hook was changed and I was back on the fish. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE - The Pliers come with a holster which I put on my belt for convenience. The holster is on a swivel and with the heavy clothing I was wearing, it would frequently turn upside down. I tried to cinche is with a wire tie, but that just pulled it out of the snap swivel. It was easy to push back in and I dealt with the swivel action. I'm going to apply some construction adhesive to the snap swivel so it stays in the upright position. I Liked the pliers and would buy them again.

Kastking knocked it out of the park again with these pliers. They feel great in the hand! The ergonomics of the grips feel great even in my smaller-than-average hands. Generally, slip resistance isn't something I am worried about, but the fact that they feel so grippy is very nice; it takes any sort of worry out of dropping them.Even more so, having the tether makes them nearly impossible to lose! The tether is not too long or too short. I like to fish from the bank but occasionally take my boat out. It is nice to not have to worry about dropping them, as I love to put things in my lap, forget I did so, and then stand up.The functions of the tool are also top tier. The hook remover was very useful, especially for the tiny size 12 hooks I use for little pond trout. I hate to admit that sometimes they get swallowed, but I was able to recover both of the swallowed hooks on my first trip with these.
