Use Proglide With Shaving Oil
I had a beard for 37 years but shaved it off just before turning 60. I've been all around the shaving block in the past 10 mos and have spent alot of money trying tons of different shaving solutions for pre, during, and post shave and here's what I have come up with: Fusion Proglide Power cartridges, manual razor, Africa's Best Herbal Oil ($2 for 8oz at Walmart), keep the razor (cartridge side down) covered in mineral oil between shaves. If the blades seem to "tug" a little, just strop them on your wet arm in the shower about 10 or 15 times (i.e. opposite direction of shaving). This cartridge is AWESOME but expensive. The subscribe and save price is okay. But if you will keep the blades covered in mineral oil between shaves, they will last for months making them quite a bit cheaper PER SHAVE than old fashioned double-edge safety razor blades. The procedure I've settled on (after watching hours of youtube and reading lots of articles) is to clean them under high pressure hot water in the sink, both sides. Shake dry and spray with alcohol. Blow dry on hot, stick cartridge head down (handle up) in a container of mineral oil (enough to cover the cartridge). It actually does work. If you feel a tug of discomfort (I do about ever 10 shaves) then strop it against your arm about 15 times. The cartridge will go on and on when combined with the storing oil AND the shaving oil (Africa's Best Herbal).Shaving with oil and water and nothing else is the way to go. I typically use 4 drops for my face and neck. Then during the shave I let the water hit my face once in a while. I don't have a problem with stubble clogging the blades for two reasons: The mineral oil soak dislodges any left over stubble, and the Fusion cartridge is open from the back. So during the shower I allow the shower water to hit the back of the cartridge and combined with the oil it just pushes out stubble. I find I don't have to rinse very often during the shave. Also with oil and cartridge you can just keep shaving till you''re done. No 2nd pass or 3rd pass, no reapplying oil or anything. Just let the water hit your face a couple times during the shave. Just keep shaving till all is clean. Its SO NICE and SO FAST. Try it 3 times in a row and you may just get hooked! It is SO GOOD for your face. The only problem I had getting started was some shave oils are a little too thick and make the shaving quite slow and not so close. The Africa's Herbal Oil does NOT have this problem. It is the best oil I've found to shave with. AND SO CHEAP!! (King of Shaves Kinexium was my 2nd best oil I found. So close and so good for your face. Just WAY MORE expensive than Africa's Herbal Oil).Lastly I'll mention this because I'm trying to help someone: I discovered I have adult acne. I didnt know it when I had the beard but when I started shaving I discovered it. I thought I was going to have to use a safety razor and shaving soap bc that was much easier on the acne than this wonderful Proglide cartridge. Well once I realized this was acne and not razor bumps or razor rash, then I started treating my face for acne after each shave and now I can shave with any shaving regimen out there. That's why I happily went back to these awesome Proglide cartridges! So I shave in the shower (just spread some liquid soap on the mirror and wash it off. Your mirror will not fog up during that shower) and AFTER shaving I wash my face with Olay Foaming Face Wash (rub it between your hands before applying) and after my shower I wash it off. Then after drying my face I apply Dr. Song 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel and let it dry (approx 10 min). Then I apply Fruit of the Earth (cheap at Walmart) 100% Aloe Vera gel. The shaving oil will leave your face quite well moisturized! But I add the aloe because it helps moisturize and is quite good for your face especially after shaving. I do hope this helps somebody.

Guys abandoning Gillette over an ad campaign are missing out. This is a great razor blade.
First off, I watched the "toxic masculinity" ads from 2019 out of curiosity after reading all these bizarre reviews where people were thumping their chests saying they were proud of their toxic masculinity blah blah blah and they were abandoning Gillette. The ad was a decent ad. Don't watch kids pummel each other without intervening and don't grope women. This upsets some guys apparently. Whatever. These blades are truly superior to anything else I've used. The South Korean Dorco blades (Executive or Dorco Pace 6 plus) that Dollar Shave Club distributes are very good, but they're probably 85% where the Proglide is 100%. I personally didn't care for the Harry's blades at all. For about 4 years I jumped on the DE shaving bandwagon with my Edwin Jagger DE89 and either personna lab blue or derby safety razor blades and, I mean, DE shaving is ok if you have the time and the requisite number of tonics and lotions needed to heal your face and ease the razor burn. My neck always looked like lizard skin using a DE razor no matter how little pressure I applied to the head, just letting the razor do the cutting. To me, DE razors are just hard on your skin. Now if you apply a lubricant, then a richly lathered shaving soap, and shave with three passes, you can get close to the results of a good cartridge blade, maybe even closer, but it's a lot of work and those products aren't cheap.I use the Proglide blades the same as a DE razor. Very little pressure, just hold the razor on my face and pull down or up, don't press down on it. I get fantastic results. Love it. Can't recommend it enough. The price is high but just wait for a special and stock up.

Comfortable, smooth shave
I've been a fan of these razors for decades. They are the best. Pricey but the blade quality is supreme and they last about a month each (though I skip shaving a few days) or more. Just make sure you buy them from a reputable seller as there are fakes out there.
